Le Tote is a fashion subscription service that allows you to rent clothing and accessories for a single monthly fee.
Subscribers fill out an online profile indicating their style preferences and what types of pieces they’d like to receive — as well as what to avoid. Once completed, Le Tote will select a collection of items for their first shipment. Once the subscriber sees the chosen selections, they have the option to swap out any (or all) of the pieces for other available items at no cost. When their tote is finalized, it will be shipped to their home and they can enjoy the items for as long as they wish (while paying the monthly subscription fee). If you receive any pieces that you’d like to buy outright, you can purchase them at between 20-50% off retail. Otherwise, just send the items back in the pre-paid return bag and get ready for your next tote to be styled.
Le Tote partners with more than 150 brands including French Connection, Vince Camuto, BCBGeneration, Free People, Splendid, BB Dakota, House of Harlow 1960, Rebecca Minkoff, and more. They launder all clothing items before shipping, as well as clean/sterilize all accessories.
Subscriptions start at $39/month for 2 garments and 1 accessory. — Free priority shipping both ways.
Let’s see what’s in my November 2016 Le Tote shipment!
Everything was shipped in a smallish box via 2-day priority mail.
A peek inside!
Eliza J Striped Sweater Dress ($118 Retail, $49 Le Tote) – I usually don’t wear sweater dresses, but I loved the fit-n-flare silhouette on this one so I took a chance and selected it for my tote. It ended up fitting perfectly and was surprisingly slimming (especially considering the horizontal stripes!). I wore this on Thanksgiving and even got a few compliments. 😀 I was a little on the fence about whether or not to purchase it, but in the end I sent it back to save money for the holidays. (I’m now regretting that decision. 🙁 )
Hayes Plaid Shirt Dress ($72 Retail, $58 Le Tote) – Drawstring waists can be a little tricky, and unfortunately that was the case with this shirt dress. I loved the colors and comfy material (100% cotton), but the drawstring waist was positioned in a way that made the back (my butt area) stick out like those old Victorian bustle dresses. Not a good look. 😉 Needless to say, this one went back.
Camilla Hematite Star Necklace ($34 Retail, $13 Le Tote) – I was unsure how I felt about this necklace when I saw it on their site… I liked the stars, but the chain itself looked a little too big/clunky. I decided to include it in my tote and hope that it looked better in person. Sadly, it did not. 🙁 The length was perfect and the price was great, but I just couldn’t look past the chunky chain. Ah well. I tried. 😉
Once you’ve enjoyed the pieces in your tote, you can go into your account and rate them based on the style, fit, and overall impression. This will help Le Tote curate future totes to better fit your needs. Of course, you always have the final say as to which items are included in each shipment.
Every tote comes with a handy pre-paid mailer, so when you’re ready to send the items back just pop them in and drop the bag off at the PO or simply schedule a free pickup online via usps.com. Easy!
While I ultimately didn’t keep any of the items, I nevertheless enjoyed my experience with Le Tote. It gave me something new to wear for Thanksgiving without having to leave the house or commit to purchasing anything. Works for me! I also liked the fact that they suggest pieces based on your preferences, but that it’s ultimately up to YOU which items you’d like to try out. A great subscription option for those who want an unlimited wardrobe without the expense of never-ending bills. 😉
