Lillypost is a new subscription box that sends beautiful children’s books and other surprises to your door every month.
There are two different box options to choose from: Board Books (for ages 0-2) and Picture Books (for ages 3 and up). Board book plans come with 5 books per box, while the picture book option includes 4 books. No matter which plan you choose, all of the books will be individually wrapped for your child to open and discover. Plus, with every box sold, Lillypost will donate one book to a child in need through various literacy-based charities.
Subscriptions are $26/month, or less with multi-month commitments. Shipping is free!
Let’s see what’s in my September 2016 Lillypost box!
The books were shipped in a brown box with adorable cartoon foxes on the side.
First look!
September’s box was their very first.
As promised, all of the books were individually wrapped in incredibly sturdy paper. — It almost felt more like shelf liner paper than actual wrapping paper. (It didn’t even rip!)
Bits & Pieces by Judy Schachner ($13.78, Amazon) – This sweet book tells the story of Tink, an old, not-so-bright cat who is loved dearly despite his shortcomings. After spending his entire life as an inside cat, he longs to explore the world beyond his home. One day (on his 20th birthday), he decides to sneak out and have an adventure. Of course, he ends up getting lost and confused, but is eventually reunited with his family who loves him to “bits & pieces”.
Love Always Everywhere by Sarah Massini ($15.23, Amazon) – Another sweet book that celebrates love in all of its many forms. The text is minimal, but the beautiful illustrations more than make up for the lack of words. A great book for beginning readers too!
…and Nick by Emily Gore ($16.30, Amazon) – …and Nick is a great book for younger siblings who will likely be able to relate to Nick, the youngest of 4 brothers. Unlike Mick, Rick, and Vick, Nick is unsure about what he wants and who he’d like to be when he grows up. For a while, he’s bothered by his indecision, but in the end he realizes he’s probably just a late bloomer and that’s perfectly fine.
Where You Go… I Go by Beth Shoshan ($9.99, Amazon) – A great pick for bedtime, this simple story explores the special bond between a baby elephant and its mother. All day long, he follows his mom everywhere she goes, doing everything that she does… Right up to bedtime, when he snuggles up with her and sleeps while she sleeps.
Along with the books, the box also contained four customizable stickers to place inside each one.
I thought Lillypost did a great job of selecting titles that would appeal to just about any child in the targeted age range. They all featured beautiful illustrations with easy to understand themes. The value was impressive as well, totaling over $55 (using Amazon prices)! Overall, a great subscription box for little readers! 🙂
