April 2016 Loot Crate unboxing time! This month’s theme is “Quest” & celebrates “epic adventures, perilous quests, and the fellowship of unlikely friends”.
If you’re new here, Loot Crate is a monthly subscription box for fans of gamer/geek culture. Every month you’ll get a box packed with 6-8 items that can include toys, gear, figures, art, accessories, and more. They often send special limited edition Loot Crate exclusive items as well.
Subscriptions are $19.37/month (price includes shipping), or less with longer plans. — You can save $3 on your first month with coupon code LOOTR3.
Okay, let’s see what’s inside the April 2016 Loot Crate!
The box got a bit damaged on its way to me this month, but thankfully the contents remained (mostly) in tact.
A peek inside. ‘Sup, Bowie?
As mentioned before, April’s theme was “Quest” and the mini mag/info booklet featured a guide to “safely avoid quests”, a “choose your own Loot-venture” story, and more.
Exclusive Labyrinth T-Shirt – Quite the timely shirt, given the recent passing of David Bowie. I’ve actually never seen the movie Labyrinth, but this shirt design is pretty impressive. The detail is crazy good and I’m sure any fan of the movie (or Bowie) would be proud to wear it.
Exclusive Vikings Drinking Horn with Strap – Well this is… interesting. A Loot Crate exclusive replica of a drinking horn from History Channel’s “Vikings” show. We don’t have cable so I have no idea what the show’s about (well, vikings obviously), but as a vegan this isn’t something I’d enjoy a beverage in (plastic or not). 😉 For those who’re into it, the horn does come with a handy strap so you can balance it around your neck whilst you drink.
Exclusive Harry Potter Socks – Yet another exclusive item, these socks feature “Voldemort’s Horcruxes”. As someone who has never read/seen Harry Potter, I have no idea what that means. However, as someone who enjoys fun socks, I’ll certainly be sporting these. (Fully covered up of course so no one will ask me about them. 😉 )
Exclusive D20 Ice Mold – There are geeky items and there are really geeky items. This one falls among the latter category: A 20-sided die ice mold. Head’s up, nerds — you’re gonna need a BIG glass.
Exclusive Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Poster – I never know what to do with rolled-up posters like this. They tend to find their way into the recycling bin soon after they arrive. Meh. I suppose someone must like receiving ’em, right?
Exclusive April 2016 Loot Pin – April’s pin features a D20 shield design. Subscribers can use the pin in their account to unlock a companion character for the game Neverwinter.
I’m starting to feel like I’m far too un-geeky to appreciate Loot Crate lately. None of the franchises this month were ones that I have watched/read/played, so I wasn’t too excited about the items. Even my husband (who’s much geekier than I) wasn’t too stoked. Ah well, there’s always next month!
Remember — If you’d like to sign up for Loot Crate, you can save $3 on any subscription plan with coupon code “LOOTR3“!
