August 2017 Loot Crate review time!
If you still haven’t heard, Loot Crate is a monthly subscription box for fans of gamer/geek culture. Every month you’ll get a box packed with 6-8 items that can include toys, gear, figures, art, accessories, and more. They often (more often than not actually) send special limited edition Loot Crate exclusive items as well.
Disclosure: I received this box for review purposes. I was not compensated in any way. All opinions are my own. Post may contain affiliate and/or referral links.
Subscriptions are $21.99/month (price includes shipping), or less with longer plans. — You can save $3 on your first month with coupon code LOOTR3.
Okay, let’s see what’s inside the August 2017 Loot Crate!
The familiar black Loot Crate box.
A peek inside!
The theme for August’s box was “Kingdom” and the mini mag/info booklet included photos and descriptions of each item. The info booklet used to also include interviews and various articles relating to the theme, but it looks like they’ve expanded on the item details and left the other features out.
Exclusive The Legend of Zelda Link 8-Bit Map Tee
This tee totally takes me back to playing Legend of Zelda in my bedroom back in the days of blowing into and/or jiggling the cartridges just so to get the games to work. Ah, nostalgia. Unfortunately, I was never all that good at the game, but seeing this shirt makes me want to bust out my old gaming system (yes, I still have it!).
Exclusive Adventure Time “Nice King” & Gunter Figure
I’ve never actually watched an episode of Adventure Time, but I’m really diggin’ this figure nonetheless. Okay, it might be based solely on the cuteness of the penguins, but I like what I like. 😉 Since this is another exclusive Loot Crate designed figure, I decided to keep it sealed in the box (it has stickers over both ends, which I didn’t want to remove/damage). From photos I’ve seen in other reviews, it looks pretty true to the image on the box.
Exclusive The Lord of the Rings Color Changing Glass
I should have taken a photo of the packing material that secured this glass in the box because it was like a styrofoam/cat hair hybrid that “shed” all over the place and I hope to never see anything like it again. (Am I the only one??) Anywhooo… This exclusive Lord of the Rings glass features a line of white text that turns red when you fill it with a cold liquid. Magic!
Exclusive The Lord of the Rings Art Print
Another Lord of the Rings item, this 8″x10″ art print features a scene from the Ents’ march on Isengard. I like that it was shipped in a plastic sleeve with a piece of cardboard to protect it during its journey through the sometimes treacherous mail system.
Exclusive August 2017 Loot Pin
August’s exclusive pin featured a coat of arms crest and allowed subscribers to unlock digital goodies from Gigantic, a free-to-play strategic hero shooter game.
Aside from the weird cat hair-ish packing material in the glass box, I was happy with August’s Loot Crate offering. The Zelda tee was the highlight for me personally, but I thought the exclusive Adventure Time figure was pretty damn neat too. 🙂 — If you’d like to sign up for Loot Crate, you can save $3 on any subscription plan with coupon code “LOOTR3“!
