February 2017 Loot Crate unboxing time!
If you still haven’t heard, Loot Crate is a monthly subscription box for fans of gamer/geek culture. Every month you’ll get a box packed with 6-8 items that can include toys, gear, figures, art, accessories, and more. They often (more often than not actually) send special limited edition Loot Crate exclusive items as well.
Disclosure: I received this box for review purposes. I was not compensated in any way. All opinions are my own. Post may contain affiliate and/or referral links.
Subscriptions are $21.99/month (price includes shipping), or less with longer plans. — You can save $3 on your first month with coupon code LOOTR3.
Okay, let’s see what’s inside the February 2017 Loot Crate!
The familiar solid black Loot Crate box.
A peek inside!
The theme for February’s box was “Build” and the mini mag/info booklet featured an interview with indie game designer Jonathan Straw, tips for becoming a pro Lego builder, a “color your own Tetris screen” page, and more.
Exclusive Power Rangers Megazord T-Shirt
When I first saw the design on this shirt, I felt like I’d seen it somewhere before… Then I realized that it’s similar to the Voltron blueprint style shirt from back in Loot Crate’s January 2015 box. Honestly, as someone who was never into Voltron or Power Rangers, it almost looks like the same character on both shirts. I’m clearly not in the target demographic for this one. 😉
Exclusive Batman Food Container by Zak! Designs
Another Loot Crate exclusive item, this “Batman head” food container holds 10.5 ounces of your favorite soup, snacks, cereal, or anything else that you’d enjoy eating from his hollowed noggin. Be sure to handle him with care though — he’s not microwave or dishwasher safe.
Tetris Magnets
Another item that was similar to a product way back in December 2014’s Loot Crate box. That one included Tetris stickers, while this time we have a pack of flexible magnets. While I liked the style of the puffy stickers a little better than these flat, un-puffy magnets, I do like that you can get a longer life out of ’em.
LEGO Dimensions Fun Pack
I’ve never heard of the LEGO Dimensions video game, so I wasn’t too sure what this was until I did a little research. According to its listing on Amazon, you can “place Cyborg on the LEGO Toy Pad to bring him to life in the game. Fire his stud-shooting Sonic Cannon and activate his special Laser Beam, Dive, Super Strength Target and Big Transform abilities to solve puzzles and battle enemies. When Cyborg needs back-up, call in the Cyber-Guard mech and rebuild it into a Cyber-Wrecker and Laser Robot Walker for upgraded powers in the game!” So, there ya go.
Exclusive February 2017 Loot Pin
February’s pin — featuring a Power Rangers Megazord — allowed subscribers to unlock free digital copies of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #0-1 and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Pink #1 from BOOM! in HD and Guided View.
Although I personally wasn’t too excited about the genres/items featured in February’s Loot Crate, I can see it being a popular crate for anyone into LEGO, Power Rangers, and/or Batman. I’m thinking it would be a total score for 6-10 year old boys too. 😉 — If you’d like to sign up for Loot Crate, you can save $3 on any subscription plan with coupon code “LOOTR3“!
