July 2017 Loot Crate review time!
If you still haven’t heard, Loot Crate is a monthly subscription box for fans of gamer/geek culture. Every month you’ll get a box packed with 6-8 items that can include toys, gear, figures, art, accessories, and more. They often (more often than not actually) send special limited edition Loot Crate exclusive items as well.
Disclosure: I received this box for review purposes. I was not compensated in any way. All opinions are my own. Post may contain affiliate and/or referral links.
Subscriptions are $21.99/month (price includes shipping), or less with longer plans. — You can save $3 on your first month with coupon code LOOTR3.
Okay, let’s see what’s inside the July 2017 Loot Crate!
The familiar black Loot Crate box.
A peek inside!
The theme for July’s box was “Animation” and the mini mag/info booklet included photos and descriptions of each item. The info booklet used to also include interviews and various articles relating to the theme, but it looks like they’ve expanded on the item details and left the other features out.
Exclusive Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Turtle Van T-Shirt
Designed in-house, this appropriately green tee features a subtle turtle shell pattern behind the main focus of the design — the famous Turtle Van! Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo are all there too, on their way to fight some crime and/or pick up a pizza. 😉
Exclusive Rick and Morty Rick “Peace Among Worlds” Figure
Welp, I think this has got to be the coolest figure I’ve gotten from Loot Crate to date. I’ve never even watched Rick & Morty, but any figure that’s flipping me off is an instant win in my book. 😉 Inspired by Rick & Morty Season 2, Episode 6 — “The Ricks Must Be Crazy”, this figure depicts Rick as he greets the denizens of the microverse with the unmistakable hand gesture which he tells them means “Peace among worlds”. This is actually the very first Loot Crate-made figure and I’d say it’s definitely a keeper.
Loot Crate Edition Bob’s Burgers Recipe Cards in a Box
Loot Crate selected 25 recipes from the Bob’s Burgers Cookbook and printed them on sturdy 5″ x 7″ cards, housed in a sleek box designed to look like the restaurant from the show. As you’d expect, the recipes are full of puns pulled from the episodes and they even included a few vegetarian-friendly burgers.
Exclusive Futurama Slurm Koozies 2-Pack
As much as I wanted to like it, I could just never get into Futurama. Still, I did make it through quite a few episodes, mainly because it was on right after the Simpsons (which I LOVED). I remember seeing references to Slurm — a popular soft drink — but I wasn’t aware (until now) that it was made from “a secretion from the anus of the Wormulon Queen“. Yummy!
Exclusive July 2017 Loot Pin
July’s exclusive pin featured Gene in his burger mascot costume and allowed subscribers to unlock digital items for the Animation Throwdown game: 4 Bob’s Burgers cards, 600 gems, and 6 speed-ups.
July’s Loot Crate was easily one of my favorites to date! The exclusive Rick & Morty figure was the clear highlight of the box, and the animation theme itself was a total win. 🙂 — If you’d like to sign up for Loot Crate, you can save $3 on any subscription plan with coupon code “LOOTR3“!
