After not receiving Loot Crate boxes for August or September, I was pleasantly surprised to see October’s “Horror” themed crate show up at my door last week.
If you still haven’t heard, Loot Crate is a monthly subscription box for fans of gamer/geek culture. Every month you’ll get a box packed with 6-8 items that can include toys, gear, figures, art, accessories, and more. They often (more often than not actually) send special limited edition Loot Crate exclusive items as well.
Subscriptions are $19.37/month (price includes shipping), or less with longer plans. — You can save $3 on your first month with coupon code LOOTR3.
Okay, let’s see what’s inside the October 2016 Loot Crate!
The trademark black Loot Crate box.
A peek inside!
After finally watching last season’s TWD on Netflix recently, and seeing how the scene above panned out tonight, I’m fairly certain I’ll be having some gory baseball bat-related nightmares in the near future.
As mentioned earlier, October’s theme was “Horror” and the mini mag/info booklet featured a look at The Walking Dead’s most memorable walkers, Jason’s best kills & weapons, and more.
Exclusive AMC’s The Walking Dead Negan Sluggers T-Shirt – Ahh! The bat again! I can almost hear the sounds of it making impact on — don’t worry no spoilers here — and I’m really starting to regret seeing it go down. shudder I’m pretty damn squeamish so scenes like that tend to stick with me and continue to creep me the eff out for days. Blech! Oh, so yeah, cool shirt I guess. 😉
Exclusive Freddy Kreuger Chopsticks – Ha! These are so neat! Nightmare on Elm Street (#3) was one of the first horror movies I saw as a kid, so Freddy always holds a special place in my nightmares heart. These scary cool chopsticks feature two stainless steel “blades” protruding from Freddy’s infamous glove.
Exclusive Leatherface Phunny Plush – As creepy as the real Leatherface may be, this little plush is actually kinda cute. Kinda. Subscribers could have gotten either a “happy” or “sad” version — there was a 50% chance of receiving either one. I was hoping for “happy” so my 4-year-olds would take to it, but considering one of them still sleeps with the Facehugger plush from January’s “Invasion” box, I’m thinking maybe they’ll make friends with this guy despite his mean mug.
Exclusive The Legion of Regrettable Supervillains Book – This is the companion book to Loot Crate’s exclusive The League of Regrettable Superheroes that was sent to subscribers back in July 2015. While that book looked at regrettable heroes, this one brings you the villains. There are quite a few head-scratchers featured inside, including the monstrosity pictured above — The Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Menace! Ooooh! Look at those mighty… minerals.
Exclusive Camp Crystal Lake Pennant – A cool Camp Crystal Lake souvenir, complete with blood spatter. Fun fact: I decided to Google “Camp Crystal Lake” and the first result was a legit kid’s camp. Nope, won’t be sending my kiddos to that one…
Exclusive October 2016 Loot Pin – October’s pin was appropriately themed, featuring John Carpenter’s classic — Halloween.
The bottom of this month’s box included this terrifying punch-out mask of a genuine Walker from TWD. They even included a metal-tipped elastic cord so you can wear it right away. (This is absolutely the creepiest thing I’ve ever found at the bottom of a subscription box!)
I’m stoked that I got to review this month’s Loot Crate because it was pretty damn awesome. Horror themes are always fun and this box didn’t disappoint. As always, it was packed with exclusives and well worth the cost of the monthly subscription. — If you’d like to sign up for Loot Crate, you can save $3 on any subscription plan with coupon code “LOOTR3“!
