Loot Crate is a monthly subscription box for fans of gamer/geek culture.
Every month you’ll get a box with 6-8 items that can include toys, gear, snacks, hardware, art, accessories, and more! Boxes are $19.37/month (price includes shipping), or less with longer subscriptions.
I was recently sent May’s Loot Crate, which was themed “Adventure!”. Let’s see what I got!
First look! I had already seen a ton of spoilers before I got my box so I wasn’t too surprised by what I saw. There was also some sort of shipping mishap and I received my box at the very end of the month. 🙁
Since I got my box so late I was in a rush to take photos as soon as the box was delivered. Unfortunately my mailman has a habit of dropping off my packages as late as freakin’ possible, so my girls had already woken from their nap by the time it arrived on my porch. That said, there was a LOT of toddler interference, which I thought would be fun to include in the review. 😉
Adventure Time Collectible Tin with Figure Inside – We don’t have cable, so I’ve never watched Adventure Time (I think it’s on Cartoon Network?). This is a neat little collectible tin with a mystery character toy inside. As you can see, my girls were interested in the happy computer(?) guy (too lazy to Google it, if you’re a fan, you know his name already). Earlier today, one of the girls handed him to me… Along with his newly severed left arm. Welp, collectible no more! Poor little dude. (Oh, I should probably note that the toy was for ages 3 and up. Whoops.)
Legend of Zelda T-Shirt – I believe this design is exclusive to Loot Crate. It’s an image of Link constructed out of words relating to the game. Pretty neat. My husband is a big fan of Zelda and gamer type stuff, so he was happy to get this.
Minecraft Hangers Mystery Pack – I’m not really up on the whole Minecraft craze… I mean, I know it’s a “thing”, but I don’t know much about it. This mystery pack contained one of ten collectible hangers/keychains. Being that I don’t know squat diddly about this stuff, I was hoping for one of the animal characters listed on the back. Lo and behold — I got a sheep! Yay? Welp, toddlers like ’em…
Friend Zone Soundtrack CD – I just imported this into my iTunes library as I started this review and I’m actually diggin’ it. I guess it’s from a YouTube game-related show. The music is super cute and catchy… Electronic, video-game-y “chiptune” music that makes you happy. I almost didn’t bother listening to it, but now I’m totally glad I gave it a chance.
Legend of Zelda Keychain & Loot Crate Badge – I believe these are exclusive to Loot Crate as well. A Zelda inspired keychain/bottle opener and a May 2014 Loot Crate badge/pin.
Various Stickers & Temporary Tattoos – These all pay tribute to the people who helped curate this month’s box. I asked my relatively geeky husband if he knew what/who any of them were and he didn’t, so this is for seriously hardcore geeks/gamers. That, or my husband isn’t nearly as nerdy as I thought…
This was my first experience with Loot Crate, and while I didn’t know much about most of the products included in the box, it was still fun to receive. My husband’s happy with his new shirt, I discovered some happy songs, and my girls got to dismember their first action figure. Wins all around!! 🙂

Seems pretty cool. Maybe more of a “guys” box? I love the shirt!

Hey, girls can be geeky gamers too! 😉
But yeah, definitely more of a box for my husband. 🙂

I got six months of loot crate for my husband for our six year annivsary. He loves Zelda so was really happy his first box had that Zelda shirt lol. He also got the pig instead of the sheep you got, and the dog character instead of the computer.
Wendy Rose
Aw, I wanted the pig! No real reason, other than the fact that pigs are flippin’ cute as heck. haha
Yeah, my husband was definitely more interested in this box than any other box I’ve gotten. 😉
