Let’s see what’s in the February 2016 Mayernik Kitchen Out of the Woods Apothecary Box!
The box!
A peek inside. I *just* realized that I never took a photo of the entire info sheet, so this shot will have to do. 😉 It included a list of everything inside the box, as well as tips on how to use/enjoy them.
All of the items were individually wrapped in scraps of floral fabric. Nice touch!
Here’s a look at all of the still-wrapped items. Love it!
Organic Coffee Coconut Sugar Scrub – This homemade scrub works great to exfoliate dry winter skin. It’s made with just 3 ingredients: organic fair trade coffee, organic coconut oil, and organic sugar. Naturally, it smells ah-maaazing and comes in a good-sized 200mL (roughly 6 1/2 ounce) jar.
Organic Warming Massage Oil – Ooh… Warming massage oil! I’ve been lucky enough to be treated to a few back rubs lately and this will be a nice way to kick it up a notch. It’s made with a blend of essential oils including jojoba, cardamom, and ginger — which you can definitely detect in the scent. I love the fact that it’s in a convenient spray bottle as opposed to a regular flip-top/pourable one.
Vegan Organic Geranium Soap with Dried Organic Roses – Yay, soap! I’m usually not a big fan of floral scents, but this blend of geranium essential oil and organic roses is surprisingly subtle. I was happy to see that it’s made with 100% vegan ingredients too.
Vegan Organic Cinnamon Soap with Orange Zest – I’d say this is my favorite of the two soaps included in the box. It features a blend of organic oils (coconut, olive, & jojoba), along with organic cinnamon and orange essential oil. It smells incredible and I’m looking forward to gettin’ sudsy with it. 😉
Rose Facial Toner – An all natural facial toner made with organic rose flowers, water, and vodka(?!). I was a bit confused by that last ingredient, so I Googled it and found that vodka actually tightens pores. I suppose that’s why so many skin cleansers contain an alcohol ingredient? Huh. Mystery solved. 😉
Homemade Herbal Dream Pillow – The info card suggests placing this soothing herbal pillow on or near your bed to help you ease into slumber. It’s filled with locally foraged mugwort, organic cascades hops, and homegrown lavender.
All of the products featured in the February Mayernik Kitchen Out of the Woods Apothecary Box were super useful, which was a pleasant surprise. 😉 I wasn’t quite sure what to expect so I was thrilled to receive awesome vegan-friendly soaps, a great coffee scrub, natural massage oil, and more. It almost felt more like a handmade gift from a friend than a typical subscription box. — That’s definitely a good thing. 🙂
