Ecocentric Mom recently switched from a monthly box to an every-other-month box. This is the third box I’ve received on their new “schedule”. I’ve been pretty happy with the change, as the boxes are still full of great stuff and now I have more time to use them between shipments. I’ve also noticed that they’ve been including more fun kiddo things like books, which is nice.
As always, I received the “Mom & Baby” box. The other two options available are a “Mom-to-Be Box” and just a plain ol’ “Mom” box. Subscriptions are $24/every-other-month, but they often have discount codes available that are usually good for the life of your sub. (I was able to score a discounted subscription not too long ago and now my boxes are only $18/month. Not bad!)
Okay, let’s see what was inside the May/June box!
Airmidian Natural Remedies Diaper Rash & Healing Salve – This is an all natural diaper rash salve made with organic ingredients including olive oil, calendula, comfrey, and vitamin E oil. It can be used for everyday redness, rashes, open wounds, as well as cuts and scrapes. It’s also cloth diaper safe. (Retail value: $6.00)
Little Hands Shapes Board Book from Make Believe Ideas Publishing – I was happy to see a board book again this month! This is a simple book of shapes with colorful photos of circular donuts, triangular cheese, heart-shaped lollipops, and more. Make Believe Ideas create their books with paper from sustainable forests and print with renewable/biodegradable soy-based inks. (Amazon price: $6.29 for similar)
LrCrem Naturals Sweet Pea Baby Shampoo – A rose/vanilla scented baby shampoo made with natural creams, butters, and essential oils. Contains no parabens, petroleum, or artificial ingredients. (Retail value: $4.00 for this 2 oz travel size)
AllieLou Baby Organic Teething Ring – This cute handmade teething ring is made from natural wood that has been polished with organic beeswax and olive oil. It has attached fabric “ears” to make it easy for baby to hold, as well as catch that extra drool. (Retail price: $8.50)
Abundance Essential Sunscreen and Night Cream – These creams are labeled “So clean you could eat it!”. The all natural sunscreen has an SPF of 30 and provides broad spectrum protection from the sun without the use of any toxins whatsoever. The night cream can be used for just about anything — to moisturize after a bath, to remove cradle cap, ease cuts and scrapes — and is safe for every age. (Retail price: $5 for each travel sized pot)
My Book Block – Words from The Book Company – My girls LOVE little books like this so I was happy to see them in the box. It’s a 5-book set with each book having a different theme (“Garden”, “Food”, etc.). I don’t see the “green”/eco-friendly connection with this one (aside from being recyclable?), but I’m not complaining. I’ll never complain about books. 😉 (Price listed on info card: $9.95)
Licious Organics Chocolate Peanut Butter Honey Cookies – This is a “just for mom” treat! I’ve had these before (in a different flavor) and thought they were pretty tasty. They’re made with organic, raw ingredients including honey (from “contented bees”), cocoa, oats, and Utah pink salt. (Retail price: $1.15 per bar)
I thought this was a pretty decent box. I love that they’ve started including books, since we have sooo many creams and balms now. For some reason it kind of felt like there weren’t as many items this month, but when I added the retail price of everything up, the total came to $47.04 — so the value is DEFINITELY there!
