Mindful Coloring Box is a unique subscription box that sends you an original guided meditation coloring book and related art materials every month.
Each box will feature a 32-page guided meditation coloring book designed around a specific theme. In addition to the book, you’ll also receive a set of 5 premium art supplies, a coloring project folder filled with 2 cards/envelopes, 4 postcards and a variety of frame-worthy art projects to color. Instead of sending a standard pack of a particular art supply, Mindful Coloring Box curates a palette of colors that work well together and can build into a complete collection of colors to use on your projects. They also include a tip sheet for getting the best results from the different art supplies.
Subscriptions are $34.95/month, or less with multi-month commitments. — For a limited time, you can save 15% on your first box with coupon code “FOUNDINGMEMBER“.
Let’s see what’s in the May 2016 Mindful Coloring Box!
The box!
A peek inside. — Pretty tissue paper!
Guided Meditation Coloring Book – I’ll start with the main item — the coloring book. The theme for this month is “Surround Yourself with LOVE”.
The first few pages give additional information on guided meditation, as well as some coloring tips.
The introduction also includes some practice pages, suggestions on how to use the book, and more tips.
Each pages spread features a meditation on the left side, with its corresponding illustration on the right.
The illustrations are all done in a similar style and look like they’ll be fun to color.
Featured Coloring Tool – May’s box included 5 Prismacolor Pencils in a specifically chosen color palette: Navy, Creme, Mauve, Slate, and Jade.
A 2-pocket folder contained additional projects to color.
This welcome sheet listed the specific items inside the folder and included an inspiring quote about coloring.
Notecards – Two folded notecards were included to decorate. I noticed on their website that they mentioned these coming with envelopes, so maybe mine were just mistakenly left out? Also, while the designs are fine, I kind of wish they were printed on heavier cardstock as opposed to standard computer paper.
Tiles – More projects to color. I’m not sure how well the included medium (colored pencils) will show up on a brown background, but we’ll see. Markers may be a better choice here.
Postcards – Two large illustrated postcard-sized pages were also provided. They’re actually a lot grayer than they look in my photo and I’m a little nervous about lighter colors not showing up too well. Again, we’ll see.
Clipboard – Also included was a large clipboard for securing your projects as you color them. A smart inclusion, especially for those who enjoy working on a couch/chair as opposed to at a desk.
Mindful Coloring Box is a neat concept that I can totally stand behind. I love the idea of using coloring as a form of meditation. I do think they could improve on a few things (thicker cards and maybe include a few more supplies), but otherwise I was happy.
