Let’s see what’s in the August 2015 Muse Monthly box!
A peek inside. There was no info card included, so I’ll just get right to the goods…
The World Before Us by Aislinn Hunter – This novel (compared to A. S. Byatt’s Possession) is described by many book reviewers as both haunting and beautifully written. It’s about an archivist who delves back into the past to try to uncover what happened to a woman who went missing 100 years prior… In the same woods where a child whom the archivist was babysitting some 20 years ago was also lost. The book was released in March of this year and has mixed, but mostly positive reviews on Amazon.
Rishi Earl Grey Lavender Tea – An earl grey tea with notes of lavender and bergamot citrus. This loose leaf black tea is made with both organic and fairly traded ingredients. I’m not normally an earl grey fan, but the added lavender flavor sounds like it could be pretty tasty. Or perhaps “elegant & enchanting”, as the tin suggests. 😉
Pressed Flowers Bookmark – Since there was no info card, I’m not sure if this was handmade by Muse Monthly, or purchased elsewhere. Either way, it’s a very pretty bookmark. It’s like using actual pressed flowers to hold your place, but without the mess (since they’re laminated).
Shakespeare Quote Bookmark – A simple tasseled bookmark that features a quote by Shakespeare — “O for a muse of fire, that would ascend the brightest heaven of invention”.
Muse Monthly is definitely a great subscription for anyone who likes to enjoy a good book with a hot cup of tea. It’s the ultimate comfort combo and a neat concept for a subscription box. The value seems pretty fair too, as the book is going for about $15 on Amazon and the tea for $13. Of course, a multi-month subscription would give you the most bang for your buck.
