The Handy Box is a brand new subscription box for the handy (or not so handy) man or woman looking to get a monthly delivery of useful tools and gadgets.
Whether you’re just starting out and need a few basic tools for small everyday repairs around your apartment, or you’re already a homeowner and could use some extra additions to your overflowing toolbox, The Handy Box has what you need.
Every box will include around 4 to 6 items, ranging from the most basic of tools, to fun gadgets, to everyday essentials like batteries. The Handy Box is $24.95/month (shipping included) and promises to contain at least $40 in products!
I was recently sent their pre-launch box for review and here’s what was inside…
The box everything came in was pretty bare-bones. Nothing fancy… A perfect “unisex” box for handy men and women.
The box came with a nicely detailed information card, which is always helpful… Especially when you’re unsure of what a particular tool is (great for those “un-handy” folks like me!).
25-Piece Tool Kit with Built-In Spotlight – This is a great little “mini” tool set that’s a great size for keeping in your car. It contains a pistol-grip ratchet driver, 10 screwdriver bits w/magnetic holder, driver extension, 8 sockets, 4 precision screwdrivers, and a travel case with built-in spotlight. I love that the case itself also doubles as a flashlight. How convenient is that? This kit alone is worth the price of the entire box! (Amazon Price: $29.99)
Duracell Procell Batteries (4 AA) – These are professional-strength batteries that can last up to 10 times longer than super heavy duty ones. Impressive! You can never have enough batteries, right? Oh, and as luck would have it, the flashlight/tool kit above takes these very batteries. Nicely played, The Handy Box! 😉 (Amazon Price: roughly $2.04 for 4)
Crank Power LED Flashlight – No batteries need for this flashlight! Just turn the hand-crank for 30 seconds and you’ll get 15 minutes of power! The LED bulbs in this thing are guaranteed to last for 50,000 hours or more — so you can basically use this flashlight for the rest of your life. Plus, it’s pink. Not much of a chance of your partner stealing it. 😉 I couldn’t find this exact product on Amazon, so I’m guess-timating the price on this one. (Retail Price: $9.99)
Hex Key Ring Set – So, um, this is one of the tools that I’m not entirely sure what it’s used for. I’m guessing it’s in the screwdriver family? Yeah… We’ll go with that. haha (Amazon Price: ~$1.00)
10 ft Tape Measure – Hey, I know what this one’s used for! Woo! This is your basic 10-foot tape measure with attached lanyard. I couldn’t find this one on Amazon, so I guessed at the price. (Amazon Price: $5.00)
Compass Keychain with Thermometer – I’m very “directionally challenged”, and I don’t think a compass is going to help things. It’s amazing that I even know my left from my right. Really. It’s that bad. However, this compass also has a thermometer… A thermometer I can handle. (Amazon Price: $4.95)
So that’s the first offering from The Handy Box. I was definitely impressed with the contents. There wasn’t anything too intimidating for beginners, and everything was useful for just about any skill level. The value was definitely there too — the tool kit itself was worth more than the cost of the monthly subscription price.
The Handy Box would make a great gift for a college student, a first time renter/homeowner, or just anyone who likes to tackle household projects.
If you’d like to win a box of your own, you’re in luck! The Handy Box has kindly offered a free box to one of my readers! Just enter via the Rafflecopter below.

I couldn’t live without a screwdriver especially since I have a 3-month-old who often has playthings that need to be unscrewed to insert batteries.

Scissors…..sure they are a tool and I def couldn’t live without them…. Or a flashlight, but as for a regular “tool” one that I’m always reaching for is a screwdriver! Oh, and a tape measure…. And another one that I use all the time that isn’t quite so common is my Dremel tool! They are awesome and great for so many things! I’m absolutely loving this box. It’s so different from all the other sub boxes and as me and hubby both love little gadgets and tools we would both enjoy this box a lot. Thanks for the chance to win it!
