Orange Glad is a monthly subscription box that features gourmet desserts. Cookies, brownies, cakes, candies — if you’ve got a taste for sweets, this is totally a box for you!
Orange Glad carefully selects the yummiest treats from sweets shops and bakeries all over the country. Each dessert box will contain five deluxe gourmet treats delivered fresh to your door. The info card indicates when you should eat each treat in order to ensure maximum freshness.
I was sent July’s Sweet Box for review, and while I never expect any of the items to be vegan (I don’t think anything ever has been), I’m always curious to see what they send. (Plus I love giving my family all the goodies that I can’t eat!)
Let’s see what was in this month’s box!
Here’s the larger outer box that held the smaller one in the first photo up there.
The (blurrier than I realized) info card. The descriptions and “freshness times” are all on the front, while the ingredients for each item are listed on the back.
This month 3 of the treats were individually wrapped in pretty paper bags with twine and stickers. I thought it was such a nice touch and made it feel like each treat was a little present. Love it!
Freedom Star Sugar Cookies from Gianna’s Homemade Baked Goods – Unfortunately, this is one of the treats that wasn’t wrapped in a pretty bag… This package contained 2 sugar cookies — one with red sugar crystals and one with blue. Sure, they would have looked nicer if they were in once piece, but no biggie… I’m sure star chunks taste just as good as… um… star… cookies not broken? (You know what I mean.)
Hazelnut Cheesecake Brownie from Chocolate Maven – This looks SO good. It’s made with Belgian chocolate brownie mix that’s swirled with cheesecake and Italian hazelnuts. Mmmm. I’d kill for a vegan version of this!
Cranberry Muffin Top from Seattle’s Favorite Gourmet Cookies and Dessert Co. – I swear, reviewing this box as a vegan is NOT easy. I love me some (vegan) muffins! I’ve never actually had a muffin top, though I’m sure it’s amazing. (Did Elaine from Seinfeld really invent these?) I think I’ll let the girls split this for breakfast in the morning. Lucky kiddos…
Chocolate Babka from Lily’s Bakery Shop – Speaking of Seinfeld… “You can’t beat a babka”! That’s actually the only thing I can think of when I hear the word “babka”. I’ve never encountered one in “real life”… Well, until now. (And I still can’t eat it… Wahhh!) I guess it’s like a sweet, coffee-cake type bread with lots of chocolate swirled inside. Mmmm. I’d probably fight an old lady over a vegan version of it too if it were the last one in the shop.
Ice-Dream Sandwich from Orange Glad – This is a butter cookie “sandwich” (the icing is inside) created by Orange Glad themselves. Honestly, I was pretty underwhelmed by the appearance and kind of surprised that it got the okay to be included in the box. It looks overbaked and crumbly. That said, I let my girls split it for dessert today and they happily ate the whole thing… even the crispier outer edges that I removed, thinking they wouldn’t want it. So, looks aside, I spose this was a win.
Orange Glad is $15/month plus shipping (less with longer subscriptions), but you can get your first box for 10% off when you click here and use the code “YUMMY10” at checkout. Not sure how long that code’s good for, so when it expires, you can get 5% off your first box when you click here and use the code “ROSEBUDS5“. Oh, and you can also order a box with double the treats for just $12 more!
