Every month will also highlight a different non-profit, community service, or give-back company which will receive a portion of each box sold that month. Boxes are designed for families with children ages 2 through 7 and sibling packs are also available.

Let’s see what’s in the August 2016 Outside the Box by Cheeky Days box!
The box!
A peek inside.
The theme for August’s box was “Kickin’ it with Kindness”. A long (hard to photograph!), 2-sided info card listed all the items in the box on one side, while the reverse side revealed this month’s featured non-profit company — Soles4Souls.
Attached to the inside lid was August’s Challenge Card which supported Soles4Souls. For one day, you were challenged to wear two different shoes on each foot and educate others on the Soles4Souls mission — to provide shoes for those in need.
Another info card included instructions on how to complete this month’s craft, as well as suggestions on how to use the items/activities in the box throughout the month.
Strictly No Elephants by Lisa Mantchev & Taeeun Yoo – First, I absolutely LOVE the illustrations in this book. It beautifully depicts autumn in the city and just gives me a warm & fuzzy feeling. 😉 The story is about a boy and his beloved pet elephant, who’s unwelcome at the neighborhood pet club. Luckily, he runs into another little girl and her pet skunk who are also shunned from attending the group. Together, they decide to form their own club in which EVERYONE is allowed, thus showing that friends come in all shapes and sizes.
“Be Nice” T-Shirt from Mamma Said Tees – This t-shirt is so soft. It’s printed on 100% fine jersey cotton by American Apparel and its message couldn’t be simpler: Be nice! The info card actually stated that subscribers would receive one of two designs — “Kind is the New Cool” or “Kind + Humble”… I’m not sure why I didn’t get one of those, but this one is fine with me. 🙂
PICNIC Sugar Cookie Mix & Sneaker Cookie Cutter – To encourage more family time, a cookie mix was included, along with a cute sneaker-shaped cookie cutter to go along with the theme. I was happy to see that the recipe could easily be “veganized”. Yay!
Shoelace Craft – Enough materials were provided to make two different shoelace crafts using colorful plastic beads and an equally colorful shoelace. Instructions were included for making a keychain, necklace, or bracelet.
Special Mom Gift – Lastly, a special thank you gift was included just for mom. — A pretty arrow ring from Etsy shop Lovassion. I don’t usually wear gold jewelry, but I think this looks like more of a rose gold(?) and I just love the daintiness of it. So pretty!
Outside the Box by Cheeky Days is such a well designed subscription box for children. It’s great that it not only includes high quality wearables, books, etc… But it also has a great “give back” message that’s important for kids to experience firsthand. Everything was nicely put together and you can tell they take great care in curating each box. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for future months! 🙂 — Remember, if you’d like to sign up you can save 10% on your first box when you use coupon code “2LittleRosebuds” at checkout!
