Pretty Good Monthly is a subscription box that sends you a selection of handmade bar soaps every month.
Each box will contain 2 or 3 bars of artisan soap, depending on which plan you choose. New scents are produced in limited quantities, and often the bars that go into each month’s shipment are retired soon after they go out to subscribers. Occasionally additional bars are made available for individual sale in their shop, but not often. Some, but not all, of their bars are vegan and complete ingredients are included on their website as well as the bars themselves.
Pretty Good Monthly also offers separate subscription boxes for 5-free nail polish and home goods.
Subscriptions for the soap box are $12.99/month for 3 bars (or less with multi-month commitments), or $9.99 for a one-time “try it” 2-bar box. You can save 15% on your first month with coupon code “2ROSEBUDS“.
Let’s see what’s in the October 2015 Pretty Good Monthly box!
The soaps were all shipped in a small brown box via priority mail.
A letter from the owner included details about each of October’s featured soaps. Luckily for me, all of the bars this month were vegan-friendly. Yay!
Apple Ale Soap – Mmm! A great soap for autumn, this bar has a festive cinnamon scent with a hint of apple. The contrasting oranges and reds in the bar are even reminiscent of fall foliage. 🙂 All of Pretty Good Monthly’s soaps are made with a base of the following ingredients: Water (Aqua),Olea Europaea Oil, Cocos Nucifera Oil, Theobroma Cacao Seed Butter, Sodium Hydroxide, Fragrance oil, Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides. They’re clearly listed on the back side of the bar, as well as on their website.
Blackberry Sea Clay and Cocoa Butter Soap – This bar is blended with detoxifying sea clay & moisturizing cocoa butter and it smells am-aaaazing. So good. It reminds me of a fresh fruit smoothie. Or strawberry Nesquik. ha. Either way, it smells damn good. Yum!
Cranberry Fig Soap – Now we’re skipping forward to Christmas… At least, that’s what this bar makes me think of. It features the scent of sweet figs and tart cranberries. I’ll definitely be saving this one for December.
Pretty Good Monthly is a great box for those who want to sample artisan soaps without paying a ton to do it. I love October’s featured scents and look forward to using them. The packaging could use a little improvement, but I do believe they’re working on wrapping the bars in more eco-friendly material. Overall, a nice, affordable subscription box for fans of artisan soap.

Thank you so much for the review. I’m glad you liked our soaps!
You are right, our packaging sucks and it is changing next box! We’ve begun to collect scrap fabric from friends and family and we are making use of the scrap and wrapping our soaps with it. Thanks again!

You’re welcome! 😀
