Pumeli is a brand new subscription box that sends you a monthly selection of products to help you unwind and relax in as little as ten minutes.
Each box will include paper (in the form of a journal or other stationery item for you to record your thoughts and inspire creativity), 1-3 ounces of artisanal tea (along with steeping supplies), and one or two handcrafted and/or fairly traded pieces to enjoy (jewelry, textiles, etc.).
Pumeli’s mission is to help you “slow down, unplug and give yourself permission to relax”.
Subscriptions are $49.95/month or less with multi-month commitments.
Let’s see what’s in the October 2015 Pumeli box!
Can you tell I was excited to see what was in the box? 😉
A peek inside.
The theme for October’s box was… elephants! Pumeli chose to feature these beautiful animals in their first box because they serve as ideal role models for “slow and mindful living”. (Fittingly, the inspiration card above was printed on eco-friendly elephant dung paper!) The sense of touch and highly tactile items were also key elements of this month’s box.
A two-sided info card further explained the theme and included detailed information for each of the items included in the box.
Hand-Sewn Journal – The fabric wrap on this hand-sewn journal (inspired by an elephant trunk) is made with fiber from recycled plastic bottles. Inside is handmade elephant dung paper from Mr. Ellie Pooh. This eco-friendly paper is crafted by artisans in Sri Lanka and helps support both their local community and the elephants that live there. Journaling is a great way to unleash your thoughts and put your mind at ease.
Foxy & Winston 100% Organic Kitchen Towel – I have so many cute kitchen towels thanks to subscription boxes! This one is made with 100% organic cotton and features a fun elephant print. It’s 18 x 27 inches large and has a handy hanging loop in the center. The towel was designed in Brooklyn, NY and manufactured in India using fair trade practices.
The Tea Spot Loose Leaf Red Rocks Rooibos Tea – Pumeli selected this tea to “make you feel like you’ve been swaddled in a warm blanket on a crisp autumn day”. Heck yeah! Who needs pumpkin spice? (Okay, I do… but still…) This tea sounds perfect for cuddling up on a cool day. It’s a caffeine-free blend made with rooibos, almonds, and vanilla flavor. Yum! Oh, and they even included a handful of unbleached/biodegradable tea filters too.
David Rio Elephant Vanilla Chai – Just mix this packet with water or milk for a relaxing cup of vanilla chai goodness. This kosher blend is free of gluten, hydrogenated oils, and trans fats.
Hand Carved Wooden Elephant Stamp – This large hand-carved stamp is from India and is traditionally used for printing on fabric. Pumeli included it as part of the “texture” theme. The info card suggests that you hold it in your hands and take a few moments to study the patterns and feel the grains of wood against your skin. Touch is an easy way to slip into a more calm, relaxed state of mind.
I wasn’t quite sure to expect from Pumeli since it’s brand new, but I’m totally impressed with their debut box! Everything fit so well into the featured theme(s) and it was clear that a lot of thought was put into the curation. The products were well made, eco-friendly, and just plain fun to receive. I can’t wait to see what they include in future boxes!
