Rocksbox is a subscription based “try before you buy” jewelry service that allows you to rent or buy pieces from a collection of trendy, yet affordable designers.
Upon signing up, you’ll be asked to complete a style quiz that helps Rocksbox determine the jewelry styles that best suit your needs. You can specify metal type, earring styles, ring size, stone preference, and more. You can also omit jewelry you don’t have a use for — I no longer have pierced ears, so I choose the “no earrings” option.
Disclosure: Box was received for review purposes. Post may contain affiliate/referral links.
At the end of the style quiz, you’ll have a chance to indicate additional preferences — such as designers you like/dislike, any metal allergies, upcoming events, etc. Rocksbox carries popular designers such as Kate Spade, Kendra Scott, Gorjana, Slate, Aster, Sophie Harper, and more.
Next, you can browse all of the available jewelry and add your favorites to your wishlist.
Rocksbox recommends adding at least 30 items to your wishlist so their stylists can start preparing your first box with those selections in mind. There is no limit to how many items you can add. You can also rank your top 10 favorite pieces, which are moved to the top of your wishlist and given preference over the others.
Once your stylist curates your first collection, you’ll receive an email to preview the set and swap out any pieces for others that better suit you. — I LOVE this option, as it ultimately gives you full control over the pieces you receive.
When you receive your box, you can keep and wear the pieces as long as you’d like. The $21/month membership fee allows you to “rent” an unlimited amount of sets in that single-month period. If you decide to purchase any of the pieces, you’ll be able to use the $21 fee right towards the cost of the item(s). Anything you choose to return is simply shipped back to Rocksbox in the pre-paid shipping envelope included with each box.
For a limited time, you can score a full month of Rocksbox for FREE (along with a $21 credit) when you use coupon code “2littlerosebudsxoxo” at checkout!
Okay, let’s check out my December 2022 Rocksbox!
My jewelry was shipped in a white padded envelope via First Class Mail. — Make sure you open it carefully, as you’ll need to use this same envelope to mail back any items you choose not to keep.
All of the pieces were tucked into a small lidded box that’s 100% recyclable & made in the USA.
A peek inside!
All of the pieces in my new set were detailed on the label above (also shown in the screenshot from my account). It included the retail prices vs. member prices for each item, along with any discounts and credits I may have earned. (Members receive $25 in “forever credit” for each person they refer to Rocksbox. This credit can be used to purchase any item(s) in your set. All members always receive special member pricing that’s lower than retail.)
Each piece of jewelry was individually packaged in its own custom drawstring bag.
Kate Spade “Cheers to That” Cluster Ring (Member Price: $128)
Okay, so sometimes it’s just fun to try something that’s waaaay out of your comfort zone… When I saw the size of this cluster ring, I knew I needed to check it out it in person and it did not disappoint. — This thing is HUGE! If you enjoy bold statement pieces, you absolutely need this ring. It reminds me of a cross between an exploding firework and a shiny disco ball. — Big, bright, and demanding of your attention. 😉
Kate Spade “Pearls, Please” Statement Studs (Member Price: $58)
In keeping with the “oversized” theme, I also selected these large pearl earrings — also from Kate Spade. These are great if you like the classic look of pearls, but want to go a little bolder to avoid 50’s housewife comparisons. 😉 The earrings are made of natural stone, with the posts comprised of rhodium over brass. Despite the size, they’re surprisingly lightweight and great for daily wear.
Kate Spade “My Love” Pave Heart Pendant in Silver (Member Price: $68)
For my final selection, I went a little more… understated? Though not nearly as bold as the previous two pieces, this shimmering heart pendant necklace is just as stunning. It features a short (16 inch?) chain with four different length options that holds a clear heart-shaped pendant outlined in tiny pave crystals. It was hard to properly capture in photos, but this is a very sparkly piece! SO pretty. 🙂
As mentioned earlier, Rocksbox provides a pre-paid shipping label to return any of the items that you don’t want to purchase. Once you’re finished trying them on/out, just place them right back in the box they came in and ship them back so they can start building your next set. Easy!
I love how Rocksbox allows me to try out jewelry that I may not have chose to try/purchase on my own. Since there’s no commitment to keep any of the pieces, you can simply wear them for a bit and send them back if you don’t absolutely love them. My favorite pieces this time were the fun Kate Spade Cluster Ring (though I don’t think I can pull off actually wearing it out!) and the Kate Spade Pave Heart Pendant Necklace. 🙂 — Remember, for a limited time you can score a full month of Rocksbox for FREE (along with a $21 credit) when you use coupon code “2littlerosebudsxoxo” at checkout!
