A peek inside!
An info card (printed on the back of one of the recipe cards) revealed July’s theme: “Bath & Spa”. It listed this month’s featured oils, along with any included extras. It also provided a few safety tips for each oil/blend.
A note from Katie — recipe formulator & certified aromatherapist — revealed a bit more about this month’s theme.
July’s recipes provided clear instructions for whipping up the following:
- Serene Steam Shower Spray
- Peace and Quiet Mini Bath Bombs
- Balanced Breeze Diffuser Blend
- Crave Control Roll-On
- Lime & Coconut Bliss Mini Bath Bombs
- Tranquil Shower Melts
A sheet of pre-printed stickers was also included for labeling your creations.
July’s oils included:
- Lime
- Bug Fighter
- Peace & Quiet
- Coriander
Simply Earth Lime Essential Oil
Like the fruit itself, lime essential oil has an invigorating fresh & citrusy scent. Some of its common uses include aiding in digestion, deterring insects, cleansing skin (and surfaces!), centering/uplifting, supporting respiration, and more.
Every Simply Earth oil is printed with a Simply Pure Promise™ that ensures that the product has been quality tested and is 100% pure. Ingredients are also clearly printed on every label.
Simply Earth Bug Fighter Essential Oil Blend
“Bug Fighter” is the first of two blends in August’s box. It was created to help keep your home pest free (naturally!) and shield you from nature’s outdoor annoyances. It contains a nice aromatic combination of patchouli, cedarwood, and lemongrass essential oils.
Simply Earth Peace & Quiet Essential Oil
The second blend of this month’s box was “Peace & Quiet”. It’s an ideal blend to help you relax and feel more calm & centered. It contains a soothing, slightly fruity blend of sweet orange, frankincense, cedarwood, and lime essential oils.
Simply Earth Coriander Essential Oil
Coriander is one of the oldest herbs and spices known to date — whose seeds have been found in ruins dating back to 5000 B.C.! Some common uses for coriander essential oil include cleansing the skin, aiding in digestion, soothing head discomfort, promoting blood circulation, and more.
Bath Bomb Mold
A small 2-piece metal bath bomb mold was provided for forming perfect spheres when crafting this month’s bath bomb recipes.
Natrasorb Bath Powder
Natrasorb Bath Powder is made with modified tapioca starch which allows it to absorb and carry large amounts of carrier oils, emulsifying wax, and essential oils. When it comes in contact with water, it immediately dissolves — releasing the oils and spreading them out in the water. It also keeps bath salts from clumping and improves the hardness of bath bombs.
Citric Acid
Citric acid is used to create carbon dioxide bubbles (aka the “fizz”) — a key ingredient for DIY bath bombs.
Here are the recipes that I’ve made so far:
Balanced Breeze Diffuser Blend
Supplies needed: Peace & Quiet Essential Oil Blend, Coriander Essential Oil, Lime Essential Oil, and Bug Fighter Essential Oil Blend.
The easiest of all the recipes, it simply required me to fill my diffuser with water, then add the specified amount drops of each of the essential oils above. Once added, I switched on the diffuser and let the relaxing aroma fill the room.
Balanced Breeze Master Blend
Every monthly diffuser recipe also comes with instructions for making a “master blend” that gives you a pre-made supply to use as you wish.
Supplies needed: Peace & Quiet Essential Oil Blend, Coriander Essential Oil, Lime Essential Oil, Bug Fighter Essential Oil Blend, and a 5 mL amber glass bottle*.
*Included in Big Bonus Box.
All you have to do is pour the specified amount of essential oil into the bottle…
…add the provided stickers — and you’re done!
Lime & Coconut Bliss Mini Bath Bombs
Supplies needed: Citric Acid, Natrasorb Bath Powder, Fractionated Coconut Oil*, Lime Essential Oil, Bath Bomb Mold, baking soda, and cornstarch.
*Included in Big Bonus Box.
First, I needed to combine all of the dry ingredients together — baking soda, cornstarch, Natrasorb, and citrus acid.
Next, I combined all of the liquid ingredients into a separate bowl — fractionated coconut oil, lime essential oil, and water.
I then poured the liquid into the dry mixture and combined with my hands until it took on a “wet sand”-like texture. Once achieved, I packed it into one of the molds and released it onto wax paper. (I found the halves were a little tricky to get to stick together, so I just stuck with making “halves”. 😉 )
Peace and Quiet Mini Bath Bombs
Supplies needed: Citric Acid, Natrasorb Bath Powder, Fractionated Coconut Oil*, Peace and Quiet Essential Oil Blend, Bath Bomb Mold, baking soda, and cornstarch.
*Included in Big Bonus Box.
As with the first bath bomb recipe, I followed the same steps starting with mixing the dry ingredients…
…through placing the molded halves onto wax paper to dry.
When both bath bomb recipes were complete, I was left with 12 individual “halves” — along with one extra that I had enough of the mixture for. I allowed them to dry/harden for 48 hours until I packed them up for future use. 🙂
Crave Control Roll-On
Supplies needed: Coriander Essential Oil, Lime Essential Oil, Bug Fighter Essential Oil Blend, Fractionated Coconut Oil*, and a 10mL Roll-On Bottle*.
*Included in Big Bonus Box.
This easy recipe simply involved placing a specified amount of essential oil into the roll-on bottle and filling the rest up with coconut oil.
Then just replace the cap and carefully position the sticker/label & it’s ready to use!
