A peek inside!
An info card (printed on the back of one of the recipe cards) revealed June’s theme: “Beauty”. It listed this month’s featured oils, along with any included extras. It also provided a few safety tips for each oil/blend.
A note from Katie — recipe formulator & certified aromatherapist — revealed a bit more about this month’s theme.
June’s recipes provided clear instructions for whipping up the following:
- Wineberry Glow Balm
- Inner Glow Diffuser Blend
- Forest Guardian Roll-On
- Morning Burst Diffuser Blend
- Beauty Within Solid Serum
- Wild Berry Kiss Lip Paint
A sheet of pre-printed stickers was also included for labeling your creations.
June’s oils included:
- Pink Grapefruit
- Himalayan Cedarwood
- Beauty Within
- Cardamom
Simply Earth Pink Grapefruit Essential Oil
Grapefruit essential oil has been found to have many benefits including clearing blemished skin, rejuvenating dull hair, boosting your mood, and supporting mental focus. It’s also great for balancing food cravings. Plus, it smells really good.
(Every Simply Earth oil is printed with a Simply Pure Promise™ that ensures that the product has been quality tested and is 100% pure. Ingredients are also clearly printed on every label.)
Simply Earth Himalayan Cedarwood Essential Oil
Cedarwood (Himalayan) uses can be traced as far as biblical times when it was used for construction materials in temples, homes, boats, and torches. — Its’ woody scent actually provides a natural resistance to decay and bugs (yay!). These days, it’s often used for promoting rest, soothing & cleansing the skin, supporting respiration, and more.
Simply Earth Beauty Within Essential Oil Blend
The only blend of June’s box, “Beauty Within” contains a sweet & earthy combination of myrrh, frankincense, rosemary, and lavender essential oils. When creating this blend, Simply Earth chose oils that are packed with skin healing properties to help improve your overall skin health and reduce the signs of aging.
Simply Earth Cardamom Essential Oil
Cardamom essential oil has a “sweet & woody” aroma and offers a variety of health benefits. It’s particularly helpful in promoting stomach wellness, supporting respiration, energizing, supporting joint function, and more.
DIY Mineral Makeup Base
This natural mineral powder is used as a base in a few of this month’s makeup recipes. It contains a simple blend of magnesium stearate, zinc oxide, silica, titanium oxide, and mica.
Red Iron Oxide
A packet of red iron oxide was provided for giving your DIY makeup bolder, richer colors. — But be sure to use sparingly, as a little goes a long way.
Fuchsia Mica Powder
A packet of 100% natural fuchsia-colored mica powder was included to give a pretty hue to your DIY eyeshadows, blushes, and more. The powder contains absolutely nothing synthetic and was ethically sourced here in the United States. (Also, the info card states that the warning on the label was a misprint and that it IS safe for using on the lips.)
Cosmetic Tin
A small tin was provided to store the end result of one of this month’s recipes — “Wineberry Glow Balm” or “Wild Berry Kiss Lip Paint”. So cute!
Paper Tube
For the second lip product recipe, a small paper tube was provided. This could be used for either one of the recipes mentioned above.
Here are the recipes that I’ve made so far:
Wineberry Glow Balm
Supplies needed: DIY mineral makeup base, fuchsia mica powder, red iron oxide, fractionated coconut oil*, coconut oil (solid)*, beeswax*, Beauty Within Essential Oil Blend, Cedarwood Essential Oil, and square cosmetic tin.
*Included in Big Bonus Box.
The first step was to place into a bowl the DIY mineral makeup base, fuchsia mica powder, and red iron oxide & mix until thoroughly blended. I used the back of a spoon to smoosh/incorporate the ingredients together as best as I could.
In a separate microwave-safe bowl, I added the fractionated coconut oil, solid coconut oil, and beeswax.
After heating the bowl in the microwave (in short increments), I added the required essential oils once it had fully liquified.
I then poured the liquid mixture into the dry ingredients and mixed until combined.
Finally, the completed product was poured into the waiting cosmetic tin.
After letting it set for a while, I placed the included sticker on the lid and my balm was ready to use!
Grapefruit Beauty Balm
Supplies needed: DIY mineral makeup base, fuchsia mica powder, red iron oxide, fractionated coconut oil*, coconut oil (solid)*, beeswax*, Grapefruit Essential Oil, and paper lip balm tube.
*Included in Big Bonus Box.
This second balm was made very similarly to the first. I started by combining the dry ingredients…
…then melting together the oils/beeswax (not shown) and adding the essential oil. Once the dry ingredients were mixed with the liquid ingredients, I carefully poured it into the paper tube above. (Pouring from a foldable silicone cupcake liner made this step incredibly easy.)
As with the first balm, I let this one set for a while until adding the provided label sticker.
Morning Burst Diffuser Blend
Supplies needed: Grapefruit Essential Oil, Cardamom Essential Oil, and Cedarwood Essential Oil.
The easiest of all the recipes, it simply required me to fill my diffuser with water, then add the specified amount drops of each of the essential oils above. Once added, I switched on the diffuser and let the uplifting aroma fill the room.
Morning Burst Master Blend
Every monthly diffuser recipe also comes with instructions for making a “master blend” that gives you a pre-made supply to use as you wish.
Supplies needed: Grapefruit Essential Oil, Cardamom Essential Oil, and Cedarwood Essential Oil, and a 5 mL amber glass bottle*.
*Included in Big Bonus Box.
All you have to do is pour the specified amount of essential oil into the bottle…
…add the provided stickers — and you’re done!
Forest Guardian Roll-On
Supplies needed: Beauty Within Essential Oil Blend, Cardamom Essential Oil, Cedarwood Essential Oil, Fractionated Coconut Oil*, and a 10mL Roll-On Bottle*.
*Included in Big Bonus Box.
This easy recipe simply involved placing a specified amount of essential oil into the roll-on bottle and filling the rest up with coconut oil.
Then just replace the cap and carefully position the sticker/label & it’s ready to use!
