A peek inside!
An info card (printed on the back of one of the recipe cards) revealed November’s theme: “Gift Giving”. It listed this month’s featured oils, along with any included extras. It also provided a few safety tips for each oil/blend.
A note from Katie — recipe formulator & certified aromatherapist — revealed a bit more about this month’s theme.
November’s recipes provided clear instructions for whipping up the following:
- Holiday Spice Diffuser Blend
- Winter Flower Bath Salts
- Royalty Facial Serum
- Mini Macrame Plant Hanger
- Cheerful Giver Roll-On
- Essential Oil Bottle Reed Diffuser
A sheet of pre-printed stickers was also included for labeling your creations.
November’s oils included:
- Ylang Ylang
- Frankincense
- Cassia
- Focus
Simply Earth Ylang Ylang Essential Oil
Known as the “flower of flowers”, Ylang Ylang was given its name for its sweet, floral aroma. It’s mainly grown in tropical areas throughout Asia and has been used for years to support healthy hair, skin, and overall wellness. Common uses include promoting youthful skin, soothing the scalp, bringing about uplifting/energizing feelings, thickening hair, and more.
Every Simply Earth oil is printed with a Simply Pure Promise™ that ensures that the product has been quality tested and is 100% pure. Ingredients are also clearly printed on every label.
Simply Earth Frankincense Essential Oil
Frankincense has been used throughout history, with its most notable appearances in the Bible and in ancient Egypt. Back in the day, it was mostly used for incense, treating wounds, and easing arthritis. These days we often use this spicy/woody oil to help with promoting immunity, aiding in digestion, supporting joint function, improving sleep, and more.
Simply Earth Cassia Essential Oil
A close relative to cinnamon (with a similar scent), cassia essential oil is derived from the steamed distilled bark, leaves and twigs of the cassia tree. The warm & spicy oil is great for promoting circulation, aiding in digestion, calming the body/mind, cleaning, supporting female wellness, and plenty of other uses.
Simply Earth Focus Essential Oil Blend
The only blend of November’s box, “Focus” contains a stimulating blend of cardamom, frankincense, eucalyptus, and sweet orange essential oils. It was especially designed to help combat mental fatigue, increase alertness, and improve concentration.
Mini Macrame Kit
A mini macrame kit was provided to make your own macrame essential oil diffuser/plant holder. The kit included 3.5 meters of 3mm rope, 2 wooden beads, 1 ring bead, and a wooden rod.
Glass Serum Bottle
A cute little glass dropper bottle was provided to use for easy application of serums and oils. It can be utilized for the Royalty Facial Serum recipe featured in this box.
Diffuser Reeds & Bamboo Cap
November’s featured diffuser blend recipe was “Holiday Spice” — which (once made in its own bottle) could be turned into a reed diffuser by utilizing the bamboo cap and diffuser reeds above.
Test Tube Container
“Winter Flower Bath Salts” were another recipe featured in this month’s box, which could be stored in this glass/metal test tube container.
Here are the recipes that I’ve made so far:
Holiday Spice Diffuser Blend
Supplies needed: Cassia Essential Oil, Focus Essential Oil Blend, Frankincense Essential Oil, and Ylang Ylang Essential Oil.
This “recipe” was incredibly easy and simply required me to fill my diffuser with water, then add the specified amount drops of each of the essential oils above. Once added, I switched on the diffuser and let the aroma fill the room.
Holiday Spice Master Blend
Every monthly diffuser recipe also comes with instructions for making a “master blend” that gives you a pre-made supply to use as you wish.
Supplies needed: 20 drops of Cassia Essential Oil, 40 drops of Focus Essential Oil Blend, 20 drops of Frankincense Essential Oil, 20 drops of Ylang Ylang Essential Oil, and a 5 mL bottle*.
*Included in Big Bonus Box.
All you have to do is pour the specified amount of essential oil into the bottle…
…add the provided stickers — and you’re done!
Essential Oil Bottle Reed Diffuser
Supplies needed: Bamboo cap, diffuser reeds, 5 mL master blend of Holiday Spice Diffuser Blend.
This recipe was as easy as removing the original cap from my newly-made Holiday Spice Blend, replacing it with the provided bamboo cap, and inserting the wooden diffuser reeds.
So easy! — After soaking for a few hours, I just needed to flip the reeds and let the essential oils diffuse into the air. 🙂
Cheerful Giver Roll-On
Supplies needed: Focus Essential Oil Blend, Ylang Ylang Essential Oil, fractionated coconut oil*, and a 10 mL roll-on bottle*.
*Included in Big Bonus Box.
Another incredibly easy recipe that simply involved placing a specified amount of essential oils drops into the roll-on bottle and filling the rest up with fractionated coconut oil. — Then carefully position the sticker/label and you’re done!
Mini Macrame Plant Hanger
Supplies needed: Macrame rope, 1 round wood bead, 1 ring bead, 2 drops Cassia Essential Oil.
I’ve never been good at crafty things involving rope/knots, but I decided to give this a shot. I started by measuring out 4 equal strands of 29.5-inch rope.
Next, I gathered them together and pulled them through the wooden ring.
I then separated the strings into four groups of two and tied overhand knots onto each pair (about 2.5 inches from the ring). I repeated this step a second time, using a new grouping of strings and placing the knots about an inch below the first.
I finished by tying the bottoms of the strings together and using the leftover rope & wooden bead to create a hanger at the top. It’s not perfect, but I’m happy to have even completed it. 😉 To use, you place a small potted plant or jar inside of the knotted strings and display where you wish. Placing a few drops of your favorite essential oil onto the wooden bead also allows it to become a diffuser. 🙂
