A peek inside!
An info card (printed on the back of one of the recipe cards) revealed November’s theme: “Gift Giving”. It listed this month’s featured oils, along with any included extras. It also provided a few safety tips for each oil/blend.
A note from Katie — recipe formulator & certified aromatherapist — revealed a bit more about this month’s theme.
November’s recipes provided clear instructions for whipping up the following:
- Espresso Yourself Roll-On
- Christmas Cabin Bath Salts
- Mulled Cider Diffuser Blend
- Morning Joe Shower Steamer
- Holly Jolly Lip Balm
- Jingle Java Sugar Scrub
A sheet of pre-printed stickers was also included for labeling your creations.
November’s oils included:
- Mandarin
- Liquid Luck
- Balsam Fir
- Coffee
Simply Earth Mandarin Essential Oil
As you’d expect, mandarin essential oil has a naturally sweet/citrusy scent comparable to the fruit itself. It can aid in soothing sore muscles, easing anxiety, deodorizing/cleaning, diminishing the appearance of stretch marks/scars, and so much more.
(Every Simply Earth oil is printed with a Simply Pure Promise™ that ensures that the product has been quality tested and is 100% pure. Ingredients are also clearly printed on every label.)
Simply Earth Liquid Luck Essential Oil Blend
The only blend of November’s box, “Liquid Luck” contains a warm & spicy combination of orange, cassia, amyris, and ho wood essential oils. It was designed to be uplifting and “help you feel lucky in all of your endeavors”. It’s also great for adding to DIY cleaning products and disinfectant sprays.
Simply Earth Balsam Fir Essential Oil
Balsam fir essential oil has a fresh pine scent that’s great to use during the holidays (and beyond!). It has a variety of aromatherapy benefits including the power to deodorize, reduce the appearance of breakouts, support joint function, uplift your mood, and more. It’s also a nice scent to use in men’s personal care products due to its “outdoorsy” scent.
Simply Earth Coffee Essential Oil
I’ve been reviewing Simply Earth for quite some time now, but I believe this is the first time I’ve received “Coffee” essential oil. — I’m excited to use it! Unlike other brands that may use artificial coffee scents, this oil is made from actual coffee beans. 🙂 It’s great for energizing, warming, and promoting awareness.
Bath Salt Soak
The package above contains a custom mixture of epsom salt, Pink Himalayan salt, and sea salt. This mineral-rich blend will be the main ingredient for making this month’s “Christmas Cabin Bath Salts”.
Cosmetic Tin
One small rectangular tin was provided to store the “Holly Jolly Lip Balm” featured in this month’s box. It could also be used for DIY makeup like eyeshadow and blush.
Rose Red Mica Powder
A packet of 100% natural rose red-colored mica powder was included to give a pretty hue to the aforementioned Holly Jolly Lip Balm, as well as Jingle Java Sugar Scrub. The powder contains absolutely nothing synthetic and perfectly safe for skin.
Here are the recipes that I’ve made so far:
Christmas Cabin Bath Salts
Supplies needed: Fractionated coconut oil*, Balsam Fir Essential Oil, Mandarin Essential Oil, Liquid Luck Essential Oil Blend, Simply Earth Bath Salt Blend, a 4 oz jar, and cornstarch.
*Included in Big Bonus Box.
The first step was to combine the fractionated coconut oil with the specified amount of essential oils in a small bowl.
I then added cornstarch in small increments until I achieved a powder-like consistency.
Next came the packet of bath salts, which was combined with the powder mixture.
The final step was to scoop it into a small jar (I used these shot glass bottles) and slap on the provided label. — So easy!
Holly Jolly Lip Balm
Supplies needed: Coconut oil (solid)*, almond oil*, beeswax*, Mandarin Essential Oil, rose red mica powder, and a 15 mL cosmetic tin.
*Included in Big Bonus Box.
Step #1 was to heat the solid coconut oil, almond oil, and beeswax in a small bowl until liquified. Once melted, the mandarin essential oil was added, followed by a few shakes of rose red mica powder (shown below).
The mixture was then carefully poured into the provided metal cosmetic tin to cool/harden.
After letting it sit for a while (maybe an hour?), the balm was ready to use! 🙂
Jingle Java Sugar Scrub
Supplies needed: Coconut oil (solid)*, fractionated coconut oil*, Coffee Essential Oil, Balsam Fir Essential Oil, Mandarin Essential Oil, rose red mica powder, sugar, and a 2 oz jar (these jars are my favorite — and cheap!).
*Included in Big Bonus Box.
As with the previous recipes, the first step was to heat/melt the main ingredients — solid coconut oil and fractionated coconut oil. Once melted, I added the essential oils and mica powder.
Sugar was next, which my daughter helped to pour.
After the sugar was fully incorporated into the liquid, the new mixture was then transferred to a small jar. I then placed the provided label sticker (not shown) onto the lid and it was good to go!
Mulled Cider Diffuser Blend
Supplies needed: Mandarin Essential Oil, Balsam Fir Essential Oil, and Liquid Luck Essential Oil Blend.
The easiest of all the recipes, it simply required me to fill my diffuser with water, then add the specified amount drops of each of the essential oils above. Once added, I switched on the diffuser and let the autumn-inspired aroma fill the room.
Espresso Yourself Roll-On
Supplies needed: Coffee Essential Oil, Balsam Fir Essential Oil, Mandarin Essential Oil, fractionated coconut oil*, and a 10mL roll-on bottle*.
*Included in Big Bonus Box.
This easy recipe simply involved placing a specified amount of essential oil into the roll-on bottle and filling the rest up with coconut oil.
Then just replace the cap and carefully position the sticker/label & it’s ready to use!
