A peek inside!
An info card (printed on the back of one of the recipe cards) revealed September’s theme: “Everyday Essentials”. It listed this month’s featured oils, along with any included extras. It also provided a few safety tips for each oil/blend.
A note from Katie — recipe formulator & certified aromatherapist — revealed a bit more about this month’s theme.
September’s recipes provided clear instructions for whipping up the following:
- Focus Roll-On
- Greenhouse Room Spray
- Wild Herbs Diffuser Blend
- Pioneer Deodorant
- Apothecary Body Butter
- Amber Musk Perfume
A sheet of pre-printed stickers was also included for labeling your creations.
September’s oils included:
- Rosemary
- Basil
- Dark Patchouli
- Focus
Simply Earth Rosemary Essential Oil
Rosemary is one of my all-time favorite herbs and I absolutely love its distinctive scent! Common uses for this aromatic oil include strengthening the hair, detoxifying, promoting brain health, evoking calmness, supporting joint health, and more.
(Every Simply Earth oil is printed with a Simply Pure Promise™ that ensures that the product has been quality tested and is 100% pure. Ingredients are also clearly printed on every label.)
Simply Earth Basil Essential Oil
Basil has been used throughout history for everything from anointing ceremonies to aphrodisiacs and everything in between. Today its fragrant oil is more commonly used for easing minor skin irritations, reducing cramps and muscular aches, treating gout, enhancing immune function, protecting against infection, reducing water retention, and stabilizing irregular menstruation.
Simply Earth (Dark) Patchouli Essential Oil
Patchouli essential oil has natural deodorizing properties that make it great for combating offensive odors. It’s also effective at repelling insects, promoting youthful skin, strengthening hair, and promoting rest.
Simply Earth Focus Essential Oil Blend
The only blend of September’s box, “Focus” contains a stimulating blend of cardamom, frankincense, eucalyptus, and sweet orange essential oils. It was especially designed to help combat mental fatigue, increase alertness, and improve concentration.
Deodorant Tube
One of September’s recipes is for “Pioneer Deodorant”, which will be housed in this reusable deodorant tube.
Perfumer’s Alcohol
This bottle of 190 proof ethyl alcohol is a perfect high proof alcohol base for solubilizing essential oils in perfumes, room sprays, and more. It will be utilized in this month’s recipes for “Greenhouse Room Spray” and “Amber Musk Perfume”.
Zinc Oxide
Another helpful ingredient to have handy is zinc oxide. It’s required in two of September’s recipes and is used for its soothing and deodorizing properties.
Here are the recipes that I’ve made so far:
Amber Musk Perfume
Supplies needed: Perfumer’s Alcohol, Focus Essential Oil Blend, Patchouli Essential Oil, and a 10mL spray bottle or roll-on bottle*.
*Included in Big Bonus Box.
I didn’t have a spray bottle available, so I went with the rollerball version of this perfume. — Luckily, I have a small metal funnel that made for easy/mess-free pouring of the 2 tsp of perfumer’s alcohol into the bottle.
I then added the specified amount of essential oils, swirled to blend, and finished my completed perfume with a sticker.
Wild Herbs Diffuser Blend
Supplies needed: Focus Essential Oil Blend, Patchouli Essential Oil, Rosemary Essential Oil, and Basil Essential Oil.
The easiest of all the recipes, it simply required me to fill my diffuser with water, then add the specified amount drops of each of the essential oils above. Once added, I switched on the diffuser and let the herbal aroma fill the room.
Wild Herbs Master Blend
Every monthly diffuser recipe also comes with instructions for making a “master blend” that gives you a pre-made supply to use as you wish.
Supplies needed: Focus Essential Oil Blend, Patchouli Essential Oil, Rosemary Essential Oil, and Basil Essential Oil, and a 5 mL bottle*.
*Included in Big Bonus Box.
All you have to do is pour the specified amount of essential oil into the bottle…
…add the provided stickers — and you’re done!
Focus Roll-On
Supplies needed: Focus Essential Oil Blend, Fractionated Coconut Oil*, and a 10mL Roll-On Bottle*.
*Included in Big Bonus Box.
This easy recipe simply involved placing a specified amount of essential oil into the roll-on bottle and filling the rest up with coconut oil.
Then just replace the cap and carefully position the sticker/label & it’s ready to use!

The September 2024 “Everyday Essentials” themed Simply Earth box included four versatile essential oils and a collection of recipes to create my own natural perfume, body butter, and more. (I was all set to make the body butter until I realized my lovely daughters had stolen/used all of the containers I hide away for these reviews. Yay, kids! 😉 ) As always, the recipes were incredibly easy to follow and took just minutes to complete. — Remember, for a limited time new subscribers can get a $45 gift card AND a FREE Bonus Box ($50 value!) with coupon code “WENDYROSEFREE“!
