A peek inside!
An info card (printed on the back of one of the recipe cards) revealed September’s theme: “Everyday Essentials”. It listed this month’s featured oils, along with any included extras. It also provided a few safety tips for each oil/blend.
A note from Katie — recipe formulator & certified aromatherapist — revealed a bit more about this month’s theme.
September’s recipes provided clear instructions for whipping up the following:
- Lumberjack Body Wash
- Fall Orchard Body Wash
- Falling Leaves Roll-On
- Bergamot Kiss Lip Balm
- Autumn Splendor Diffuser Blend
- Enchanted Forest Solid Lotion Bar
A sheet of pre-printed stickers was also included for labeling your creations.
September’s oils included:
- Bergamot
- Pine
- Ho Wood
- Autumn Air
Simply Earth Bergamot Essential Oil
Every Simply Earth oil is printed with a Simply Pure Promise™ that ensures that the product has been quality tested and is 100% pure. Ingredients are also clearly printed on every label.
Bergamot — named after a town in Italy — has a fragrant citrus/floral aroma. It’s often used for its calming effect, as well as aiding digestion, deodorizing, promoting immunity, balancing cravings, and more.
Simply Earth Pine Essential Oil
Not only does pine essential oil immediately bring back memories of Christmas morning, it also has a variety of benefits when used in home remedies. It’s great for general deodorizing, cleansing the skin, easing seasonal discomfort, supporting joint health, relaxing muscles, and more.
Simply Earth Ho Wood Essential Oil
Ho Wood (along with Ravintsara and Camphor essential oils) all come from the Cinnamomum camphora plant — a large evergreen tree that grows in Asia. Its properties are similar to the endangered rosewood tree, making it a great alternative to rosewood essential oil. Some of its many uses include promoting immunity, soothing the skin, supporting women’s wellness, calming anxiety, and reducing the appearance of breakouts.
Simply Earth Autumn Air Essential Oil Blend
“Autumn Air” (September’s only blend) is a seasonally inspired offering designed to welcome in the cooler, cozier months of autumn. It contains a warm & spicy combination of lemon, orange, balsam fir, ho wood, and cassia essential oils. — Something tells me I’ll be diffusing this one a LOT in the coming weeks. 🙂
Deodorant Tube
One of September’s recipes is for a solid lotion “bar”, which will actually be housed in this reusable deodorant tube.
Simply Earth Shea Butter
Shea butter — a fat extracted from the nut of the African shea tree — is widely used in cosmetics as a moisturizer, salve or lotion. It works as an emollient that softens and hydrates skin. Two of this month’s recipes calls for shea butter: Enchanted Forest Solid Lotion Bar and Bergamot Kiss Lip Balm.
Simply Earth Body Wash Powder
This body wash powder is made with clean ingredients and is SLS/paraben-free. To use, simply add powder to the specified amount of water (preferably in a bottle), shake, and let activate for 5-6 hours. Afterwards, you can add a little carrier oil and the essential oils of your choice.
Here are the recipes that I’ve made so far:
Enchanted Forest Solid Lotion Bar
Supplies needed: Almond Oil*, Shea Butter, Beeswax*, Pine Essential Oil, Bergamot Essential Oil, Ho Wood Essential Oil, Autumn Air Essential Oil Blend, and an empty deodorant tube.
*Included in Big Bonus Box.
This easy recipe required me to melt together the almond oil, shea butter, and beeswax until fully liquified. (It started to harden back up in my photo above, but still turned out fine.) Once melted, I was to add the specified drops of essential oils.
I then stirred in the cornstarch (not shown) and poured the mixture into the provided deodorant tube. (You can see the re-hardened beeswax above, but it’s not noticeable at all in the finished product.)
After letting it fully set/harden, the lotion “bar” was good to go!
Bergamot Kiss Lip Balm
Supplies needed: Shea Butter, Coconut Oil (solid)*, Almond Oil*, Beeswax*, and Bergamot Essential Oil.
*Included in Big Bonus Box.
Like the first recipe, the lip balm recipe began by melting together the shea butter, coconut oil, almond oil, and beeswax.
Once fully melted, I simply added the specified amount of essential oil and poured the mixture into a small jar.
After letting it harden for a few hours, I slapped on the provided label and the balm was ready to use!
Fall Orchard Body Wash
Supplies needed: Body Wash Powder, Autumn Air Essential Oil Blend, Bergamot Essential Oil, and Almond Oil*.
*Included in Big Bonus Box.
The first step was to add distilled water to a 4oz bottle (I bought this set of glass bottles w/funnels) and then gently mix in the required amount of body wash powder.
Once mixed, the bottle needed to sit for 6 hours to fully activate.
When activation was done, I added the essential oils and provided label. So easy!
Lumberjack Body Wash
Supplies needed: Body Wash Powder, Pine Essential Oil, Ho Wood Essential Oil, Bergamot Essential Oil, and Almond Oil*.
*Included in Big Bonus Box.
The second body wash was made using the same process as the first: Fill bottle with water, add body wash powder, shake, let sit, add essential oils.
Second batch complete!
Autumn Splendor Diffuser Blend
Supplies needed: Bergamot Essential Oil, Pine Essential Oil, and Autumn Air Essential Oil Blend.
The easiest of all the recipes, it simply required me to fill my diffuser with water, then add the specified amount drops of each of the essential oils above. Once added, I switched on the diffuser and let the autumn-inspired aroma fill the room.
Falling Leaves Roll-On Blend
Supplies needed: Bergamot Essential Oil, Ho Wood Essential Oil, Pine Essential Oil, fractionated coconut oil*, and a 10mL Roll-On Bottle*.
*Included in Big Bonus Box.
Another easy recipe that simply involved placing a specified amount of essential oils drops into the roll-on bottle and filling the rest up with fractionated coconut oil.
Then just replace the cap and carefully position the sticker/label & you’re done!
