Sjaak’s Vegan Chocolates Valentine’s Day 2015 Review

I can’t believe Valentine’s Day will be here in less than 3 weeks! Where did the time go?! To get me into the V-Day spirit, Sjaak’s Organic Chocolates sent me a selection of their vegan chocolates to review. — It was a tough job, but I was up to the challenge. 😉

I first discovered Sjaak’s last year around this time and I fell in LOVE with them. They’re a family-owned business dedicated to producing high quality confections while maintaining socially responsible practices. All of Sjaak’s handcrafted treats are created with the finest organic, non-GMO ingredients.

At the time of writing last year’s review, Sjaak’s offered only a limited selection of vegan chocolates, but since then they’ve made the switch to an ALL vegan line. How cool is that? Everything on their site is totally vegan-friendly.

Okay, onto the chocolatey goodness!

Hearts of Cherry Gift Box – Such a pretty presentation! I got to try these decadent heart truffles last year and was more than happy to see them again. They have a smooth, creamy cherry flavored truffle filling coated in rich “melk” (vegan milk) chocolate. They’re perfect for Valentine’s Day and if my husband is reading this: HINT, HINT!

Organic Fair Trade Melk Chocolate Truffle Assortment – I pretty much died and went to vegan chocolate heaven when I opened this box. I truly haven’t had such fancy chocolates since my pre-vegan days (over a decade ago). I savored each and every piece, which sadly only took about 3 days. The box contained a nice sampling of flavors, including hazelnut, orange, cappuccino, cherry, and more. Atop each rich truffle filling was a layer of sweet gooey caramel which made me love them all the more.

Melk Chocolate Almond Butter Filled Heart – Can’t go wrong with chocolate and almond butter. This melk chocolate heart was filled with creamy almond butter and was devoured in seconds. (Okay, maybe a minute and a half. It was good. Really good.)

Eli’s Earth Bars – I received all 3 flavors of Eli’s Earth bars — Treasure Bar, Dream Big Bar, and Celebrate Bar. Treasure is definitely my favorite and features peanut butter, toffee, and a layer of caramel, all coated in “melk” chocolate. Dream Big is like a vegan Snickers bar and has caramel, peanuts & peanut butter. Celebrate has vanilla caramel, coconut & almonds. So good!
