Something Snacks is a subscription that sends you a box of snacks containing “something familiar & something adventurous” every month.
Every box will contain a variety of different snacks — ranging from salty, to savory, to sweet, and everything in between. They try to include a selection that everyone can enjoy, so they make sure to send at least one sweet, one salty, one international, and one healthy snack. Each box includes at least 7 individual items and are often based on a seasonal theme.
Subscriptions are $10/month (plus $3 shipping to US, $8 to Canada), or less with multi-month commitments.
Let’s check out the June 2015 Something Snacks box!
Everything was shipped in a small white box with the Something Snacks logo in the lower right corner.
In honor of Father’s Day, June’s box featured a “Manly” theme. The info card included photos and a brief description of each item.
Herr’s Baby Back Ribs Potato Chips – Welp, you can’t get much manlier than rib-flavored chips. I was surprised to see that these were actually vegan, despite the big slab of meat pictured on the package. Still, I gave them to my dad, who I knew would be totally into ’em.
Beer Nuts – To my surprise, these were vegan too! I’ve never tried Beer Nuts before, but they look kinda good. They’re coated in a blend of coconut oil, corn syrup, and salt.
Chuao Chocolatier Baconluxious Chocopods – Okay, now these are clearly not vegan-friendly. Little milk chocolate bars with a touch of maple, sea salt, and crispy bacon pieces. Another item for dad… Which makes total sense, given the theme.
Jack Link’s Original Beef Stick – They clearly know what dads like. Mine was more than happy to take this beef stick off my hands.
Lenny & Larry’s Muscle Brownie – I’ve had Lenny & Larry’s (vegan) cookies before and they were super good. I was hoping this brownie would be vegan-friendly too, but no dice. It is all natural, fresh baked, and packed with an impressive 20 grams of protein.
Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce Popcorn – This month’s featured snack is sriracha popcorn! It’s gluten-free, kosher, and made with the original sriracha sauce from Huy Fong Foods.
Terra Blues – I’m pretty sure this is the healthy snack for June. All natural vegetable chips made with blue potatoes, a little vegetable oil, and sea salt. They’re gluten-free, vegan, and made with non-GMO ingredients.
I thought Something Snacks did a great job of picking out perfect man/dad approved snacks. While some of the snacks ended up being vegan, I actually gave the whole box to my dad, since he was the intended target audience for this one. Of course I could have kept some for myself, but he watched my kiddos for a while shortly after I received the box, so it was only fair to pay it forward. 😉
