Student Velocity is a Canadian subscription box that sends a monthly care package to help get you through the school year.
Each box will contain at least two snack items, as well as 3 to 5 lifestyle items depending on the plan you choose. The “Hatching” box is the smaller of the options and includes at least 2 snacks and 2 to 4 lifestyle items such as dorm essentials, school supplies, and seasonal goods. The “Raptor” is the large box and includes 3 or more snacks and 3 to 5 lifestyle items.
Subscriptions are $20/month for the Hatching box and $30/month for the Raptor. (Prices are in Canadian dollars, as that’s the only country they ship to currently.)
Let’s see what’s in my October 2015 Student Velocity box!
The box was shipped via air mail and featured a little silhouette of a velociraptor on the lid.
A peek inside!
October’s theme was “Don’t Panic” and included items to help you get to class on time when you’re running a little behind.
Aquis Microfiber Hair Towel – A super absorbent microfiber towel to get your hair dry in a hurry. This towel is designed for long hair and is a nice 18 x 44 inch size. It cuts down on blowdrying time and even helps to reduce frizz. Since my hair is on the shorter side I’m not sure that I’ll be using this myself, but I was impressed to see that it sells for an average of $20 on Amazon!
Reviver Clothing Swipe – I remember seeing these on Shark Tank! They’re reusable cloth wipes that make your clothes smell fresh in between washes. Definitely a great item for a college kid!
Kaia Juicy Bamboo Cleansing Cloths – Cruelty-free cleansing cloths made with natural bamboo. These are biodegradable and enriched with Vitamins B12, C, and E.
Freeman Charcoal & Black Sugar Mud Mask – I love mud masks and skin products containing charcoal, so I’m definitely looking forward to trying this out. The formula is paraben-free and not tested on animals. Packet contains 2 to 4 applications.
Nature’s Path Love Crunch – A gluten-free granola bar made with organic ingredients including almonds, peanuts, cashews, dark chocolate, and quinoa. A nice mid-afternoon or in-between-classes snack.
Chocolates – A handful of chocolate candies were included — Peanut M&M’s, Cadbury Crispy Crunch, and two Cadbury Caramilk bars.
Pur Cinnamon Gum – A diabetic and vegan-friendly cinnamon flavored gum. It’s xylitol based and both sugar & aspartame free.
Student Velocity is clearly a great subscription for college students. The variety of items was nice and I could see most college kids easily utilizing everything in the box. I didn’t do a cost breakdown, but since the towel alone sells for around $20 on Amazon, I’d say the value is most likely there.
