Once again, the forecast on Halloween night called for rain showers and high temps in the 40’s. (Every. Freakin’. Year.) Thankfully, we had a back-up plan: Mall-o-Ween!
I’ve been getting Darby Smart’s “To DIY For” box for a couple months now and am finally getting around to reviewing one. — October’s project was just way too cool not to share here. Plus, I’m kinda impressed by how well I did with it. (Hey, it’s a big deal for someone as craft-challenged as I am!) Darby Smart is a DIY/craft box that has project kits for everyone — from simple beaded bracelets and candle kits, to mosaic coasters and personalized totes. The kits contain everything you need to complete your project and prices start at just $6! You can subscribe to their […]

Another year, another “Year in Review” post… (How is 2013 already over?! Slow down, time!! Slow. Down.)
The girls went trick-or-treating for the first time this year. Twice. On Tuesday night we took them to a local mall for their annual “Mall-o-Ween” event. For a $2 donation they give you a treat bag and set you loose to collect candy from tables set up outside of each store. It was a good time, but the place filled up FAST, resulting in long lines and cranky strawberries Rose-berries.
Appleseed Lane is a fun new subscription box designed for kiddos 4-8 years old. The box focuses on age-appropriate science projects and related crafts. Each month features a different theme, with projects relating to it. All of the materials needed are right in the box, including a cute little illustrated booklet that explains the science behind the experiments in a kid-friendly way. The box that I received for review was “Halloween Science”. Fun! I love holiday-themed boxes!
Ok, so it’s Halloween and we have yet to carve our pumpkins. And honestly, I have absolutely no desire to do so. I mean, being the pumpkin carving perfectionist that I am, it takes me long enough just to carve ONE pumpkin… And this year I’d have to do two more. Soooo… I think I’ll pass. As ridiculous as it may be, I actually feel pretty guilty for denying the pumpkins their rightful jack-o-lantern status. What will I do with them now? Just let them sit, nakedly uncarved in the kitchen, waiting for them to rot? 🙁 I just don’t […]
Autumn is in full swing & I couldn’t be happier! I’m sitting on my comfy couch, sipping pumpkin spice coffee, half-listening to Anderson Cooper as he kindly provides background noise. The girls are asleep (well, one is) and the space heater is kickin’ out the warmz. Cardigans are an everyday staple now and slippers never leave my feet. The house is adorned with candy corn lights, vintage-inspired Halloween decorations, and orange candles. Patient pumpkins sit on a kitchen chair, waiting to be carved. Needless to say, October is one of my favorite months of the year and I plan to savor […]
This photo could NOT be more perfect. It tells the story of the girls’ past month better than I could ever explain in a hundred blog posts. Yes, this past month has been pretty damn brutal here in the Rose house. As I wrote in my previous post, the girls were plagued with tummy troubles, filling the house with blood-curdling wails and nosehair-curling(??) farts. It was a challenging month, to say the least. With that said, we shouldn’t have been surprised when the girls refused to cooperate for their monthly photo session. Nevertheless, we dressed them in Halloween-themed onesies, gathered […]
