Let’s see what’s in the April 2017 Tasterie box!
Everything was shipped in a blue box with white flowers and the Tasterie logo on top.
A peek inside!
A sheet pasted to the inside lid included additional information about the subscription from its founder, Lama Rimawi, MD.
An info booklet included product information on some of the items in April’s box (products can vary), as well as a list of allergy-friendly brands that offer seasonal treats for Easter and other holidays.
Better Batter Yellow Cake Mix
Mmm… Cake! This yellow cake mix is 100% gluten-free and vegan-friendly. You’ll need to add water (or milk), oil, and eggs, but they also include separate instructions for a veganized version. Each box makes one 9 x 13 inch cake or 24 cupcakes. Tasterie also provided a handy list of allergen-free baking substitutes to use in future treats.
Go Organic Blood Orange Hard Candies
I’ve gotten these candies in a few other subscription boxes and I always enjoy them. They’re made with organic ingredients and all natural orange flavor. They’re also gluten-free, non-GMO, and vegan. Yay! These are perfect to keep in my bag while I’m waiting to pick up my kids after school and have a craving for something sweet (which is always). 😉
Ener-G Sesame Pretzels
I was already familiar with Ener-G due to their egg replacer product that I used to buy for baked goods, but I didn’t know they made snacks as well. These cute little pretzel rings are free of gluten, dairy, nuts, eggs, and soy. I honestly didn’t love the flavor (maybe it was the sesame throwing me off?), but I nevertheless finished the whole bag.
Blackberry Patch Strawberry Ice Cream Topping
This all natural ice cream topping is handmade in small batches “to ensure old-fashioned goodness in every spoonful”. It has only 3 simple ingredients: Fresh strawberries, pure cane sugar, and lemon juice. While my preferred toppings typically involve chocolate and sprinkles, I’ll definitely make a point to pick up some vanilla ice cream to try this stuff out. 🙂
Munk Pack Blueberry Acai Flax Oatmeal Fruit Squeeze
I’ve gotten these pouches in a LOT of subscription boxes over the last year or so and I really wish I liked them (just not a fan of oatmeal). They’re made with real oats, apples, bananas, ground flax, and other all natural ingredients. They’re also vegan and gluten-free.
Nature’s Bakery Fig Bar
My kids LOVE these fig bars. They eat one nearly every day as a treat after lunch. These are made with ancient grains including teff & amaranth and are both dairy- and gluten-free. They’re also free of high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives.
Tasty Brand Organic Fruit Snacks
Yay! Vegan-friendly fruit snacks! Not only are these gelatin-free, but they’re also flavored with real organic fruit juice and contain no high fructose corn syrup! Oh, and of course they’re gluten-free as well.
I really enjoyed my first Tasterie box experience! While they don’t promise a 100% vegan box, I do believe that every item in April’s offering did happen to be vegan-friendly. Woo! There was a nice assortment of different product types — a baking mix, ice cream topping, snacks — which gave a good sampling of the types of allergen-free items that are available. The price seemed fair as well, given that the baking mix and strawberry topping alone both sell for over $10 each on Amazon! 🙂
