Tasty Bite recently contacted me to see if I would be interested in reviewing some of their ready-to-eat meals. I’ll be honest, I was a little skeptical of the whole “meal in a pouch” thing, but I was curious, so I accepted their offer. (I’m glad I did!)
Tasty Bite specialize in both Indian and Pan-Asian dishes, many of which are vegan or vegetarian. (They also offer gluten-free and kosher options.) The meals are fully cooked and sealed in multi-layered pouches that keep it fresh for up to 18 months. They’re perfect for taking to work, on a camping trip, or just for making a quick meal at home. (That last option works for me.)
All of the meals that I received were vegan except for one, so I was pleased with all of my options. Yay, variety! I’ve tried 3 of them so far, and was quite impressed! They’re made with all-natural ingredients and the preparation couldn’t be easier — Just tear open the pouch, pop it in the microwave, and heat for 90 seconds or less. SO. EASY.
I just may have made the meal pictured above 2 days in a row — It was THAT good. It’s Tasty Bite’s Ginger Lentil Rice paired with a vegan Field Roast sausage link. I loved the flavor of the rice… spicy, but not overly so, with the perfect kick of ginger. It also had a nice Thai element to it with the addition of curry and coconut milk. Yum!!
This was the first meal(s) that I tried. I had it for dinner, which explains the not-so-flattering lighting of the photo. (The previous ones were taken during the day, with natural light… Okay, photo ramble over). I combined two of the meals together for this one… Tasty Bite’s Asian Pad Thai Noodles & Thai Lime Rice. I’m not the biggest fan of Pad Thai (I hate peanuts all up in my food!), but once I picked out all the peanut chunks, it was quite good. Especially for something that came from a pouch! The thai lime rice was great. Simple and lightly flavored. Mmmm.
Would you like to try some of these tasty meals for yourself? Of course you would! Tasty Bite has generously agreed to let me give away a sample pack to one lucky reader. Hooray!
