The Original CRUMBS Bakeshop — once a popular brick-and-mortar chain — now offers their signature cupcakes and cookies to customers nation-wide through its new online bakeshop.
First opened in 2003 on the Upper West Side of New York City, CRUMBS made all of their products by hand (they still do!) and quickly became a worldwide sensation. Lots of CRUMBS shops followed and millions of cupcakes were enjoyed. After a 10 year hiatus, the original founders have returned to offer those same delicious cupcakes and a brand new selection of soft-baked cookies.

Let’s unbox some Original CRUMBS cookies & cupcakes!
Everything was shipped in a white box with the Original CRUMBS Bakeshop logo on the side.
Inside of the box was a layer of insulation, a cold pack, and a second smaller box.
The smaller pink box housed all of the treats, nestled snuggly into a bed of pink paper squiggles. 🙂
Here’s a look at everything that was inside. — I received the “Best Seller Variety Pack” for review.
My Best Seller Variety Pack ($75) consisted of:
- Two Red Velvet Cupcakes
- Two Raspberry Swirl Cupcakes
- Two Squiggle Cupcakes
- One Sprinkle Sundae Cookie Jar
- One Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Jar
- One Chocolate Cherry Cookie Jar
Raspberry Swirl Cupcake (2)
All of the cupcakes were separated by flavor into three 2-pack boxes. First up was Raspberry Swirl! — This pretty pink & white confection features moist vanilla cake that’s filled with raspberry preserves and topped with vanilla cream cheese frosting. Can’t wait to get to the fruity filling? Fear not! The creamy frosting is also swirled with raspberry preserves. This one was my husband’s favorite.
Red Velvet Cupcake (2)
The next flavor included in my variety pack was classic red velvet. This decadent treat featured authentic red velvet cake topped with vanilla cream cheese frosting, red velvet cake crumbs, and a sea of white sprinkles. One of my daughters (who is NOT a fan of chocolate) absolutely loved this flavor and devoured her half in minutes. — Oh, I probably should have mentioned that these are very generously sized cupcakes. All of them were cut in half and shared. 🙂
Squiggle Cupcake (2)
The final flavor was a take on the classic Hostess chocolate squiggle cupcake. Like the original, it also consisted of rich chocolate cake filled with sweet vanilla buttercream and topped with smooth chocolate ganache frosting. This one was a huge hit with my other daughter who absolutely loves anything involving chocolate. She enjoyed it so much that she had no interest in even trying the other two flavors. 😉
Sprinkle Sundae Cookies
All of the cookies were packaged in their own little plastic cookie jar designed with a notch at the bottom so they can be stacked. The first flavor we tried was “Sprinkle Sundae” — a colorful butter cookie studded with rainbow sprinkles. Unsurprisingly, these were an instant favorite with my 10-year-olds.
Chocolate Cherry Cookies
Next up, “Chocolate Cherry” cookies! These cherry flavored butter cookies featured a pretty pink hue and contained a generous amount of dark chocolate chips. Both of my kiddos really enjoyed these, but they still came in second place to the unmatchable “Sprinkle Sundae” cookies above.
Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
The third (and final) cookie flavor was “Oatmeal Raisin”. — In addition to the standard inclusion of oats and raisins, these are also made with milk chocolate chips! My kids are a little leery about trying them, but my husband has confirmed that they are indeed delicious.
Although I couldn’t try them myself (vegan here!), my family was more than happy to sample the decadent selection of cupcakes & cookies from The Original CRUMBS Bakeshop. All of the products were well packaged and arrived surprisingly fresh, considering the short shelf life of baked goods. It was fun to receive a big box of handmade treats in the mail and this would undoubtedly make an incredible gift for the holidays and beyond. 🙂
