War Foodie is a monthly food subscription that delivers customized care packages to those serving in the military.
Each month you’ll receive a customized food box with items of your choosing. War Foodie offers a variety of different products including granola, coffee, tea, peanut butter, and jerky. When you initially sign up, you’ll get to select which categories of items you’d like to see in each box. Items come in many different flavors and blends, so while you’ll get the same categories each month, you won’t get the exact same flavors.
Boxes are $29 shipped for the first two items and $7 for each additional one. Starter packs are also available for $10. War Foodie ships to APO/FPO/DPO addresses both domestically and internationally. (Right now you can get free shipping (normally $15 included in the monthly cost) with coupon code “THANKSGIVING“, OR $5 off shipping every month when you order in 3 month intervals with coupon “FALL3“, OR 50% off shipping every month when you order in 6 month intervals with coupon “HOLIDAY6“. You’ll also get a FREE custom War Foodie t-shirt now if you order a 3 month subscription!)
Let’s see what’s in my November 2015 War Foodie box!
The box was shipped via priority mail and featured a War Foodie logo stamped on the side.
Inside, the contents were hidden beneath a layer of tissue paper and included a personalized note on top. Definitely a nice presentation, despite the plain priority mail box.
Since this was a review box, I didn’t have a profile set up to indicate which categories I wanted. Therefore, they sent me a sampling of a few of their popular items.
Guatemala Santa Isabel Coffee – Everyone needs good coffee! This big, 8 ounce bag is packed with whole Guatemalan beans for your brewing pleasure.
Nutty November Granola – Can I just say how sad I am that this granola contains milk products (well, just butter)? It sounds SO good otherwise! — It contains a hearty blend of baby rolled oats, bran flakes, almonds, macadamia nuts, organic coconut, flaxseed, and more.
Peanut Butter – Okay, now this is a butter I can get behind. It’s made with just two ingredients: Valencia peanuts and salt. An absolute military necessity!
Ginger N’ Spice Tea – I really regret not taking a photo of the tea itself — it’s so pretty! (I never would have guessed just by reading the label.) Ginger ‘N Spice features a blend of China green tea, ginger, rose hips, peppercorn, orange peel, licorice root, and stevia leaf. They’ve also included a measuring spoon and reusable fabric tea bag right inside the package.
Scorpion Hot Sauce – This potent hot sauce is made with Moruga Scorpion Chile peppers, which is one of the hottest chillies in the world. — Certainly NOT a sauce for the weak!
War Foodie is most definitely a winner when it comes to military-friendly subscription boxes. I like that you can choose which categories you’d like to receive, but due to all of the varieties, you’ll still be surprised. It’s also cool that you can choose as many “add-on” items as you’d like in addition to the minimum 2-item box.
Don’t forget — for a limited time you can get free shipping (normally $15 included in the monthly cost) with coupon code “THANKSGIVING“, OR $5 off shipping every month when you order in 3 month intervals with coupon “FALL3“, OR 50% off shipping every month when you order in 6 month intervals with coupon “HOLIDAY6“. You’ll also get a FREE custom War Foodie t-shirt now if you order a 3 month subscription!
War Foodie has also offered to send a box to one of my lucky readers or one of your friends/family serving in the military! (You’ll/they’ll receive the same contents as reviewed here!). Just enter via the form below. Good luck! 🙂

I have two cousins (twins actually) currently serving in the Army. One is stateside, the other is in Germany, so as long as it ships worldwide it will go to the one in Germany. Otherwise it will go to my other cousin. My younger brother and my nephew were both Marines and I sent them care packages all the time. When my nephew was stationed in Iraq, some of his friends didn’t receive packages, so I always sent extra treats for him to share. This is a great box, and things like snacks are always appreciated. Amazingly enough, socks and underwear too.
