Let’s see what’s in our WompleBox “Nicaragua” themed box!
Everything was shipped in a blue box with colorful map graphics and a white WompleBox logo in the top left corner.
A peek inside!
Early Reader Book: Volcano Island – Nicaragua
As mentioned above, every box comes with an illustrated early reader book based on that month’s featured destination. Volcano Island had us joining our friend Womple as he followed a treasure map on an adventure through Nicaragua. The book was jam-packed with interesting facts about Nicaragua, as well as regional foods, photos of landmarks, and more.
Fold-out Map of Nicaragua/Country Guide
A large fold-out poster featured a colorful map of the Island of Ometepe on one side, with fun facts about the region’s lakes, volcanoes, wildlife, and more on the other. There was also a recipe for traditional Tres Leches Cake.
Projects:
Two different Nicaragua-themed activities were included in this month’s box: Creating your own flying “Blue Morpho” butterfly & constructing a wooden Shark Automation!
Blue Morpho
The first project was to make a pair of butterflies that could be set up to “fly” out of a book upon opening it. Materials included a set of markers, paper butterfly wings, double-sided stickers, and two butterfly “bodies”.
Shark Automation
The second project involved building a shark automation out of die-cut wood pieces. Materials included the two sheets of pre-cut wood boards above.
Pen Pal Bundle
Our “pen pal bundle” included a lined sheet of Nicaragua stationery & envelope, a postcard featuring a map of Nicaragua, and a sheet of stickers with images from Nicaraguan culture.
Souvenir
The final item in this month’s box was a collectible keychain featuring a friendly-looking shark. 😉
WompleBox is a great subscription box for introducing kids to other countries and cultures around the world. The information is presented in a very kid-friendly way that keeps them engaged without feeling overwhelmed. Unfortunately for us, this month’s activities were a bit more challenging than they initially appeared to be and didn’t quite make it to completion, hence the lack of “in-progress” photos. It happens. 😉 — Remember, for a limited time you can save 30% on your first box with coupon code “FIRSTMONTH30“!
