March 2017 YumeTwins unboxing time!
If you’re not aware, YumeTwins is a new subscription box that sends you a collection of cute Japanese items every month. Each box will consist of 5 kawaii inspired items sent straight from Japan. Yume kawaii is a new kawaii movement that is a mixture of cuteness and fairytales, with a touch of darkness. Yume itself means “dream”, so not only does yume kawaii center around cute styles, but it also has a magical dreamy feel to it. Items can include plushies, keychains, stationery, squishies, candy, collectible figures, wearables, accessories, and more. All products are from officially licensed brands/franchises such as Sanrio, Sailor Moon, Re-Ment, Amuse, Ban Dai, Takara Tomy, and many others.
Disclosure: I received this box for review purposes. I was not compensated in any way. All opinions are my own. Post may contain affiliate and/or referral links.
Subscriptions are $29.99/month with free shipping worldwide. — For a limited time, you can save 10% for LIFE on any subscription plan with coupon code 2NDANNIV!
Let’s see what’s in the March 2017 YumeTwins box!
The big purple box.
A peek inside!
A full color information booklet included contests, character info, and a full run-down of all the items featured in March’s “Totoro” themed box.
Totoro 3D Jigsaw Puzzle
This little kit consists of 9 tiny 3D puzzle pieces that fit together to form 3 mini Totoro figures. I should have taken a photo of the individual pieces, but each of the completed Totoros are made up of 3 separate pieces (the head, front lower half, and back lower half). You can display them individually, or stacked together as shown on the box above.
Totoro Hand Towel
What a cute hand towel! This is much larger (and thicker) than most Japanese hand towels I’ve received in similar subscription boxes and it’s super detailed too. I love the little 3D leaf on Totoro’s head. 😉 Subscribers could have received one of five different designs and I think this one is actually my favorite. Yay!
Shinada Fukurairai Plush
Is it bad that this sweet lil’ chickie reminds me of Gilbert Godfrey? Ha! — There’s actually a reason why his (the chick’s) eyes aren’t open: These special plushies from the Fukurairai series are said to bring good luck and are ensuring your good fortune by meditating with their eyes closed. Well, meditate away, lil friend! 🙂
My Neighbor Totoro Origami Kit
I’ve never actually tried to do origami, but something tells me that I’d fail miserably. — Those folds are so tiny! I just don’t think I’d have the patience. That said, this kit comes complete with enough paper for 3 different sized Totoros, Catbus, and the Kusakabe house. The box itself can even be used as a display stand for your completed creations.
Totoro Washi Origami Paper
More origami! This package contains 5 different designs (4 of each one) with 20 sheets in all. Boxes that were shipped earlier contained a Spring themed package, while later shipments received this Winter themed one. (A note was sent explaining that there were fulfillment issues and offering an apology for the replacement.) If you’re not into origami, these pages are great for wrapping paper or scrapbooking use.
I’m actually not a big fan of Totoro, so this wasn’t my favorite YumeTwins box, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. My favorite items this time were the sweet little plush chick (the only non-Totoro item) and the Totoro hand towel. 🙂 — Remember, for a limited time, you can save 10% for LIFE on any subscription plan with coupon code 2NDANNIV!
