ZBOX is a UK-based subscription box that sends you a mystery collection of geeky goodies every month.
Each box will feature a new theme — from zombies and the undead to retro games and pop culture — and contain over £35 (roughly $48) worth of exclusive and licensed merchandise. The interior of each month’s box will be designed specifically around the theme and include a little “Easter-egg” for you to seek out.
Subscriptions are $31.58/month (£19.99) and they ship worldwide.
Let’s see what’s in the March 2016 ZBOX!
The box!
A peek inside.
A ZBOX mini mag revealed March’s theme — “Guardians” — and included a look at unlikely guardians, how to say “I am Groot” in various languages, and more. It also listed all of the items inside the box, along with brief descriptions of each one.
Harry Potter Severus Snape POP! Vinyl #05 ($11.87) – Subscribers received one of four different Harry Potter companions. In all honesty, I’ve never gotten into Harry Potter, so I have no idea who “Severus Snape” is. Regardless, he’s (it’s a he, right?) welcome to join my ever-growing POP! collection. 🙂
Guardians of the Galaxy T-Shirt (~$10-15?) – This ZBOX exclusive t-shirt is a replica of the one worn by the young Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy. I’ve never seen the movie, but my husband has and knew exactly when it was worn. I really like how they used a more subtle movie reference, as opposed to a full on Guardians logo or something.
Dynomighty Ghostbusters Wallet ($19.99) – A super lightweight wallet featuring the characters from Ghostbusters. I have a similar Simpsons one from another geek box and it’s a lot sturdier than it looks. It’s hard to see in the photo, but it also has six slots for credit cards and the like.
Transformers Figurine & 3D Puzzle (~$7?) – I couldn’t find this exact figure on Amazon, so I guessed at the price based on similar characters listed. This 1.5″ Transformers “Wheeljack” figure comes complete with a 3D puzzle and collector’s base.
Heroes Godsend #1 ($3.99) – I didn’t see this listed in the mini mag, so I’m guessing it’s just a bonus(?). It also looks like a ZBOX exclusive (at least the cover), as the ones for sale on Amazon are a bit different.
Halo: Hunters in the Dark Book ($11.76) – I had no idea there were actual books based on the popular Halo game, but here we are. To steal the synopsis from the mini mag: “A heroic, hastily formed coalition of humans and Elites must overcome their differences as they embark on a covert mission back to the Ark after a startling scientific discovery is made.” Yeeeah… I’m sure fans of the game will be a bit more excited about that tease than I am. 😉
Although I wasn’t too all that crazy about the particular franchises featured, I was nonetheless impressed with my first ZBOX. There was a nice selection of items — books, figures, clothing/accessories — and I really like the unique design they chose for the t-shirt. The value was great too — totaling over $60 in all (give or take a few dollars for estimating a couple items). April’s ZBOX theme is Batman, so if you’re a fan I suggest you grab one now! 🙂
