I was pleasantly surprised to see the August Taste Trunk on my doorstep today. They don’t send tracking numbers, so it just kinda shows up when it wants. Which is sorta nice, since I don’t have to obsessively refresh any tracking pages.
As with last month, I ordered the “Health Trunk”. There are 4 different themed boxes (“trunks”) to choose from: “Sweet Trunk”, “Gourmet Trunk”, and “BBQ Trunk”. Can’t decide which one you want? They have an option on their website to switch trunks whenever you want. You can change it every month if that’s the way you roll. Personally, I always stick with the Health one, since I assume I’ll have a better chance at getting vegan items in the box. (So far, so good.)
Taste Trunk always gets an “A” for presentation. The boxes are beautifully packaged with tissue paper, ribbons, and wax seals. Fancy!
Alright… Time to see what’s inside!
The Cookie Department “Great Full” Cookie – This is my favorite item in the box. — A vegan cookie! Well, a “vegan sweet potato wellness cookie”, to be exact. I’ve never heard of this company before, so I’m excited to see what they’ve got to offer. This cookie is all natural and free of artificial flavors. It’s also a good source of antioxidants, thanks to the cranberries & sweet potatoes. Yum! (Retail Price: $2.50)
Fiddyment Farms California Pistachios – BBQ flavored pistachios! These sound good! Yes, despite being vegan, I do like BBQ-flavored things. I actually just had BBQ French fries last week, and they were amaaaazing! Fiddyment Farms use an innovative technique to hull and dry the nuts within minutes of harvesting them. The result? Some seriously FRESH pistachios. Mmmm! (Amazon Price: roughly $4.75)
Pacific Beach Peanut Butter Spread – Toffee flavored peanut butter spread. I was excited about this until I read the ingredients and found that it contains dairy butter (due to the toffee). Boo! Oh well, I’m sure my husband will eat it. Toffee is their signature flavor, and apparently has a nice “crunch” to it. They have over half a dozen other flavors, including organic and vegan-friendly ones. (Amazon Price: $9.00)
California Harvest Dried Fruit Medley – This is a healthy mix of dried pears, peaches, apricots, and plums. These fruits were grown right in sunny California and are an all natural, healthy treat. The bag is a nice size too — a full 10 ounces. I’ve been trying to eat more sensible snacks (well, to a point), so these are perfect. Of course, I’ll prolly follow them up with a cookie, but what can ya do… (Retail Price: $7.50)
Brainy Oats Banana & Walnut Oatmeal – I seem to be getting a TON of oatmeal in boxes these days. This one sounds particularly good though, since I’m a big fan of anything “banana nut-y”. Sometimes simple is good. Oh, and their slogan is “Grain for the brain”. How awesome is that? (I couldn’t find a price online, so I’ll guesstimate it at $2.00)
Nunes Farms Caramel Chews – In chocolate almond and regular almond. These are individually wrapped, handmade caramel candies. I received five pieces. Totally not vegan, but I’ll find someone who’ll gladly take them off my hands. (Price guesstimate: $1.00)
While I didn’t love this box as much as last month’s, it was still pretty good. I like that they include smaller companies that most people haven’t heard of (myself included). Overall, it was a fun box to open and 4 out of the 6 items are vegan-friendly, so I’m happy.
Want to try Taste Trunk for cheap? Yes? Cool! Just use the code “2LITTLEROSEBUDS25” and put my name (Wendy Rose) in the “Special Instructions” box to save 25% off your first month! Yay!!
