Time to revisit the 90’s again with a review of the April 2016 The 90’s Box!
The 90’s Box is a monthly subscription box dedicated to sending the coolest toys, novelties, and candies that were must-haves in the 90’s. Each box will typically contain 4 to 8 items that can fall into any of the following categories: Toys, Games, Activities, Fashion, Pop Culture, Lifestyle, and Snacks. While not every item will have been made in the 90’s, they’ll all be representative of things that were popular during that decade.
Subscriptions are $24.99/month (plus shipping), or less with multi-month commitments.
Let’s see what’s in the April 2016 The 90’s Box!
The box! — Love the fun design!
A peek inside!
A full-color booklet listed all of the items and included fun descriptions/background info on each one.
Ty Beanie Baby “Doby the Doberman” – I had a little too much fun posing this guy. 😉 Beanie Babies were a BIG part of growing up in the 90’s and I definitely had quite the collection of ’em. My girls were happy to adopt this one and name him “Woofy”. Very creative, guys.
Super Cap Gun & Plastic Disc Caps – I never personally had one of these guns growing up, but my husband did. I was more about the ones with the actual gunpowder caps (I’m guessing they don’t sell those anymore?!).
Mr. Sketch Scented Markers – Mmmm… Scented markers! I distinctly remember my set of sweet-smelling markers that I had in the 80’s. These brought back a lot of memories. sniff
Push Pop Candy – Yep, I definitely had my share of Push Pops back in the day. I don’t think I ever actually used the cap clip to attach it to anything, but I did eat ’em.
Official 1990’s McDonald’s Happy Meal Toy – Okay, here’s how big of a dork I was(?)… I used to collect McDonald’s toys MIP (Mint in Package) and would make regular weekly runs to buy Happy Meals so I could get the latest ones. I had a guide book and a binder that I kept track of all the toys in. I even had my mom take me to a local flea market to buy them from a woman who sold ’em at her booth. Nerrrrrd. Anywhooo… This mystery bag consisted of one 90’s era McDonald’s toy…
I received a Hot Wheels Dragster from 1992! The bag itself had seen better days, but I still opted to keep in MIP. 😉
Pillsbury Snowman Lip Balm – A “Snowman” sugar cookie flavored lip balm! I’m not sure how 90’s this is, but it’s cute.
Wind Up Fishing Game – Ha! I remember this game! I don’t think I actually owned it myself, but I do remember playing it at some point. Just wind it up and as the “pond” turns the fish open and close their mouths. Use the included magnetic fishing poles to catch as many as you can. Fun times!
Flying Glider Toy – An 8 inch foam flyer complete with “power prop”! Guarantee for at least 5 minutes of fun until it inevitably breaks apart. 😉 Actually, maybe these ones are built better than the cheap “wood” ones I had growing up. Maybe.
Tech Deck Premium Skateboards – While I did like some “boyish” toys, I never got into “fingerboards”. Of course, I was probably a little too old to care once these came out anyway. That said, they do look cool and it would have been fun to learn to do tricks with ’em. Probably a lot easier than actual skateboarding which I have tried and totally sucked at. 😉
Bubblicious Bubblegum – Good ol’ Bubblicious. Who didn’t chew this stuff in the 90’s?
The 90’s Box totally delivered this month! I actually enjoyed this one a lot more than March’s (which wasn’t bad at all). I think I just related to more of the items in this month’s box so it was a lot more fun to go through. 🙂
