An info card listed all of the items included in April’s box, with each one under its respective category.
Food
Bobo’s Chocolate Almond Butter Toast’r Pastry
I’m a big fan of Bobo’s Oat Bars, so I was excited to see their newer offering — a Toast’r Pastry — in this month’s box. Unlike traditional toaster pastries, Bobo’s are made with wholesome, non-GMO ingredients including organic rolled oats, garbanzo bean flour, buckwheat groats, almond butter, and oat fiber. They’re also gluten-free, soy-free, and vegan-friendly.
Pocket Latte in Hazelnut
Chocolate + coffee = <3 This “coffee bar” is made with all natural, organic ingredients and contains the caffeine equivalent of one cup of coffee. It’s also dairy-free (vegan), gluten-free, soy-free, and is made without any artificial sweeteners, flavors, or colors. I think I’ll be saving this for one of those mornings where despite having my first cup of coffee, I just can’t wake up. (The way I’ve been sleeping lately, I’ll be ripping this bar open very soon.)
YumEarth Sour Beans & Gummy Fruits
I’m always happy to see YumEarth candies pop up in a subscription box. These organic, naturally colored/flavored gummies and sour beans are perfect additions to easter baskets & lunch boxes. Fun fact: I found the holiday version of these gummies on clearance in January and bought every single bag. My girls and I both love them and they didn’t expire until 2020, so why not? 🙂
Bath and Body
Maui Soap Company Pikake Tropical Loofah Soap
I don’t normally enjoy floral-scented soaps (or floral-scented anything really), so I was surprised how much I loved the scent of this loofah bar. The fragrance is a blend of Pikake — an aromatic flower native to Hawaii — as well as Pacific ocean sea salt & Hawaiian Kukui oil. It contains no phthalates and is 100% vegan & cruelty-free.
Aenon’s Rose Purifying Clay Mask
The second bath and body item was a purifying clay mask treatment from Aenon’s. This single-use mask is enriched with French rose clay and finely ground rose petals to purify, cleanse, and gently exfoliate skin, revealing a smoother and more youthful complexion. To use, simply add water or create your own customized facial by adding other natural ingredients.
Lifestyle
East Meets Vegan by Sasha Gill
In this new cookbook by Sasha Gill, she proves that Asian cooking can be not only plant-based, but also easy, affordable, and delicious. The book features recipes separated by specific locales — India, Thailand, Singapore & Malaysia, China, and Japan. Dishes include veganized butter “chicken”, pineapple fried rice, laksa lemak, red bean pancakes, mango lassis, spring rolls, tandoori cauliflower wings, jackfruit biryani, shiitake ramen, and lots more.
Activism
“I’m Vegan Because” Stickers
The activism portion of the box consisted of these two stickers that read “I’m vegan because [image of cow]”. Honestly, I was a little confused by these at first, as I thought maybe we were supposed to “fill in the blank” below the text to say why we’re vegan. I didn’t get that the cow was supposed to represent animals in general until I read the info card. I can just see a non-vegan seeing this and reading it as “I’m vegan because cow” and snickering to themselves at how weird us vegans are. :/ Hopefully I was the only one seeing it this way?
Aside from the somewhat confusing message stickers above, I really enjoyed April’s All Around Vegan box! My personal favorites this month were the Bobo’s Toast’r Pastry, Pocket Latte bar, YumEarth candies, Maui Soap Company loofah bar, and East Meets Vegan cookbook. <3
