Angels’ Cup is a new coffee tasting subscription that allows you to taste and compare 4 different roasts every week.
To help you get the most out of your coffee tasting experience, Angels’ Cup even has a free app to record and compare each roast you receive.
Each weekly “tasting flight” contains four 1-ounce samples of light or medium roast coffee, shipped within days of being roasted. (If weekly delivery isn’t for you, there’s also the option of monthly or bi-weekly shipments.) The coffee is sourced from all over the world — including Central America, Africa, India, South America, Asia, and Yemen.
Subscriptions are $7.99/week, with shipping included in the US.
Let’s see what’s in my Angels’ Cup tasting flight!
Everything was tucked inside of a small mailing envelope featuring the Angels’ Cup logo on the back.
An enclosed card further explained the whole tasting concept and likened it to a “game” where you hunt for the ideal cup of coffee.
The back of the card included simple instructions for entering your coffee selections into their app to record your tasting notes.
Each sample is packaged in a small pouch stamped with the date it was filled, as well as its sample number (to be entered into the app). The idea is to taste the roasts first, then enter the sample number in the app to add your tasting notes and reveal the actual origin of the beans afterwards. This way you’re not prejudging a roast based on its brand/origin before actually tasting it. You’ll also get to compare your own notes with roasting experts via the app and see how you match up.
Each sample includes enough coffee to make one large 16 ounce cup of steaming goodness.
If you MUST see what the samples are before enjoying them, they do include a “cheat sheet” that lists all of the roasts in your tasting flight.
Angels’ Cup is a great subscription for anyone interested in learning more about the unique flavors of different roasters and discovering new favorites. Plus the app is a fun way to record your findings and save the info to help in future coffee purchases. Oh, and if you love one of your samples, you can buy a full bag directly from their shop!
May 2015 Angels' Cup Review
I’m not too picky when it comes to coffee, so I’m not sure that I would use an app to record my tasting notes. However, for those who DO care about quality coffee, this is a great way to explore and discover new brands! (Though i do wish the sample sizes were a little larger for the cost.)
