Let’s see what’s in this quarter’s Artza “Galilee” box!
Everything was shipped in a light blue box with the Artza logo printed in white.
A peek inside!
The 2-sided info sheet above revealed this quarter’s destination — Galilee — and included interesting facts, photos, and even a few English to Hebrew translations.
An additional information packet included 4 product information cards, 2 postcards, and a recipe.
A separate info card listed all of the items I’d find in this quarter’s box.
Individual product information cards provided background info on each company/artisan and details on how best to utilize the items.
Two postcards were included, one featuring an Ancient Galilee Boat (aka the “Jesus Boat”) and the other Mount of Beatitudes.
The final “paper” item was a recipe for traditional Israeli Hummus that utilized two of the products inside this quarter’s box (olive oil and hummus seasoning).
Safed Candles – Set of 2 Hand-Dipped Taper Candles
Safed Candles custom made these beautiful tapers for Artza, designing them to reflect the natural lush colors and beauty of the Galilee. Each candle features a pretty color palette of deep purple, blue, turquoise and green — allowing you to bring the splendor of the Galilee right into your home. While in the process of moving to our current home, I gave away all of my old taper candles so I’m happy to have this beautiful new set. 🙂
Sindyanna of Galilee Extra Hopeful Olive Oil
Sindyanna of Galilee is an Israeli-based non-profit organization led by Arab & Jewish women seeking change and peace. The small batch extra virgin olive oil above has won many international awards and is a special varietal unique to the Mediterranean coast. It’s produced in the biblical city of Cana using fair trade practices that support local farms and individuals who work on them.
Michal Soaps Lemon & Lime Body Scrub
When I first saw that there was a “scrub” in the box, I assumed it would be in gritty/liquid form so I was pleasantly surprised when I found that it’s an actual bar of soap (scrub?). Handcrafted in Northern Israel by a team of artisans, this delightfully scented soap/scrub is made with all natural ingredients including olive oil, coconut oil, cocoa butter, oat kernel flour, lemon peel oil, and honey. It smells incredible and I can’t wait to use it!
Custom Hummus Seasoning Blend
The custom seasoning blend above was crafted using herbs & spices grown in the meadows of Bethlehem in the Galilee. It can be used in the recipe shown at the beginning of this review to make a delicious homemade hummus. Ingredients include dried tomatoes, onion powder, coriander, paprika, garlic powder, basil, sumac, cumin, marjoram, and chili pepper.
Even Gallery Ceramic Bowl
This pretty ceramic bowl was handcrafted in by Itamar Even — the son of one of Israel’s most famous ceramicists. It was custom designed for Artza to reflect the blue & turquoise colors of the Sea of Galilee. Also, carved into the very center are images of two fish and a bread loaf, meant to be reminiscent of the famous story of the Loaves and the Fishes.
Tzuf Cocoa & Nuts Nectar Spread
Did I get excited when I saw the word “vegan” printed on this bottle not once, but twice? You bet I did! 😉 This chocolate/nut spread is made with a blend of tahini (ground sesame seeds), coconut flower nectar, hazelnuts, and cocoa powder. It’s also gluten-free and contains no artificial colors or preservatives. I’m not 100% sure what I’m going to spread (drizzle?) this on, but I’m excited to try it!
Grandpa’s Footsteps Jesus’ Footsteps Card Came
The card game above was created to “take your family on a trip to the Holy Land without leaving your home”. It consists of 44 cards grouped into 11 sets (families) of 4. Card topics include “Early Agriculture”, “John the Baptist”, “Miracles”, “Fishermen”, and many more. The rules of the game are printed on the inside of the box and are likened to games like “Go Fish” or “Quartet”. You can also use the cards to play different versions of “Memory” or utilize them to plan your next family trip to the Holy Land.
Holy Land Mosaics Puzzle/Mosaic Kit with Stones from the Holy Land
Premium Box subscribers also received this neat mosaic kit from Holy Land Mosaics. It includes a collection of 100% natural stones from Galilee that can be used to duplicate the puzzles printed on the cards above or to create your own original work of art! According to the info card, the stones in the kit actually have the same sizes and colors as used in antiquity mosaics. Very cool!
I really enjoyed this quarter’s Galilee-themed Artza box! My personal favorites this time around were the Safed Candle Set, Sindyanna of Galilee Olive Oil, Michal Soaps Lemon & Lime Body Scrub, Hummus Seasoning, Even Gallery Ceramic Bowl, and Tzuf Cocoa & Nuts Nectar Spread. 😀 — Remember, for a limited time you can save 15% on your first box with coupon code “SPRING15“!
