Time for my July 2016 Beauty Box 5 unboxing!
If you’re not aware, Beauty Box 5 is an affordable subscription box that delivers 5 deluxe samples and full-sized products right to your door every month. Each box will consist of a mix of both full and deluxe sample sized products — five in all. Items can include makeup, beauty accessories, hair, skincare, fragrance, body, nail products, and more. Featured brands will range from luxury, to drugstore, niche, eco-conscious, and even vegan-friendly. The total retail value will always be higher than the cost of the box.
Subscriptions are $12/month, or less with multi-month commitments. Shipping to US is free (Canada, add $3).
Let’s see what’s in the July 2016 Beauty Box 5 box!
As always, everything was shipped in a small box with the Beauty Box 5 logo on the front.
A peek inside.
July’s theme was “Will Brake for Makeup”. An info card listed all of the items in the box, as well as photos, descriptions, and retail prices for each one.
Hikari Cosmetics Eye Shadow in “Haze” ($13) – FULL SIZE! Subscribers received various shades of this highly pigmented shadow. Mine is “Haze”, a pretty gold color with plenty of shimmer. I do like the shade, but it might be a bit too glittery for me. We’ll see!
Beauty Box 5 Round Blending Brush ($10) – A BB5 blending brush that’s perfect for applying highlighter, bronzer, or even the eyeshadow above. You can never have too many brushes!
Sweep Rose Gold Tweezers ($14) – Pretty tweezers! While I don’t really need a new pair of tweezers at the moment, these are too fancy not to keep. 😉
Sweep Pocket Mirror – This wasn’t listed on the info card, so I’m guessing it was just a little bonus to go along with the tweezers. Nice!
Skinny Tan Mini Mitt ($4.95) – A mini tanning application mitt for the face and “small areas”. I don’t use self-tanner, so this will be going into the swap pile.
Chella Eyebrow Color Pencil in Tantalizing Taupe ($18) – FULL SIZE! A handy brow pencil with a super fine tip and mechanical extendable core that doesn’t require sharpening.
I’m not sure why Beauty Box 5 isn’t as popular as the bigger beauty boxes coughIpsy&Birchboxcough. They always have a crazy high value and are just $2 more than the other guys. All of the items this month were FULL SIZE and the total retail value was just under $60! Nice. 🙂

It seems like BB5 has definitely gotten better. When I first subscribed back when it first came out, my first two boxes (before I canceled) contained items that were from Walmart (Hard Candy makeup, some travel size toiletries, etc). At least now you seem to be getting decent products that make the box worth the price. Maybe it isn’t as popular because it was such a terrible box in the beginning.
