Time to see what’s in my March Birchbox! Like last month, I wasn’t too stoked about the sample choices we got (subscribers get to choose one of their samples from a selection of 3 products). Still, it’s always fun to see what else will be in the box.
If you’re new to Birchbox, it’s basically a monthly subscription box that sends you 4-5 grooming, beauty, and lifestyle samples for just $10/month. When you sign up you take a style quiz and they send you products that best fit your profile. Both well-known and up-and-coming brands are included, all in generously sized multi-use samples.
Their rewards program is easily one of the best around. You earn points for reviewing your samples, referring friends, and purchasing full sized products. Each review is worth 10 points and referrals are 50 points. Every 100 points gives you $10 to spend in their shop. The points rack up fast and there’s no limit to how many you can earn. The shop is full of great products including candles, cosmetics, home accessories, tea, chocolate, and lots more goodies. Since each box contains at least 5 samples, you’ll already be racking up 50 points after you review them. So it’s sort of like paying $5 per box instead of $10, since you get that $5 in store credit. Nice!
Let the March Birchbox Unboxing Begin!
This month’s “theme” was creativity.
As always, the info card listed each item inside the box, as well as tips for using them and retail prices for the full-sized versions.
It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-in Product (~$9) – A 10-in-one treatment that helps to repair dry, damaged hair. Just spray it on after you wash and style as usual. This is the product I chose for my sample choice. It’s definitely something I can use, but I have a ton of products like this waiting to be used thanks to subscription boxes.
Roloxin Lift Revitalizing Facial Treatment (~$22) – I’m not quite sure who would pay $110 for the full size version of this product (10 packets), so the $22 value seems a bit crazy to me. These are basically just anti-aging masks that claim to reduce the look of wrinkles and pores for up to 24 hours. For that price, I’d want it to last a wee bit longer than that. Still, I’ll give ’em a try and see if I can see any difference in my skin.
Jelly Pong Pong Glow Getter Luminizer Gel (~$12.75) – An oil-free luminizing gel that you apply to your cheek and brow bones for a glowing, shimmery effect. It’s lightweight and 80% water-based. I’m not sure if I’d ever use something like this, so… We’ll see.
Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser (~$6.75) – A 2-step cleansing system that consists of a liquid cleanser and a muslin cloth. First, massage the cleanser into your skin. Next, soak the cloth in hot water and use it to wipe off the cleanser in small circles. I haven’t tried it yet, but I like that it’s kinda different with the cloth and all.
Elite Therapeutics Rosemary Eucalyptus Body Creme (~$1.19) – This is probably my favorite item in the box. I love the scent of rosemary and use lotion multiple times a day. This contains 70% organic ingredients and smells fantastic.
I definitely liked this month’s box much better than February’s. The value was great too — over $51 in products! Crazy.
If you’d like to sign up for Birchbox, new customers can get 100 points when you sign up with this link and use coupon code “bbstore100“– 100 points is equal to $10.00 to spend in their shop (if that code doesn’t work, try “JILLIAN“). Since the box itself is $10/month, it’s like getting your first one for FREE!
