Bon Appetit Box is a monthly subscription box that brings authentic gourmet foods from France right to your doorstep.
Two different box options are available — the original Bon Appetit Box consisting of 7-8 gourmet items and the Bon Appetit Snack Box which features 4 or more sweet and savory treats. All of the products included are from genuine French culinary masters, with many of the companies existing for generations. These French artisans focus on quality, natural ingredients (often locally-sourced), exquisite taste, and the adherence to traditional recipes. Each box will also include Discovery Cards with origin details of each product and artisan maker.
Subscriptions are $70 for 2 months of the Snack Box, or $150 for 2 months of the original Bon Appetit Box. Discounts are available for multi-month plans. — For a limited time, you can save $5 on any plan with coupon code “2LITTLEROSEBUDS5“!
Let’s see what’s in my August 2016 Bon Appetit Snack Box!
Everything shipped in a white box stamped with the Bon Appetit Box logo.
Tucked inside the box was…
…another box!
A peek inside.
An info card listed all of the items inside, along with brief descriptions and tips for enjoying each one.
Edmond Fallot Extra Fine Gherkins – I’m not sure if I’ve ever tried gherkins before… I know I’ve had “mini pickles”, but these look a lot different than the ones I remember. These “extra fine” gherkins are flavored with vinegar, onions, tarragon, yellow mustard seeds, and other natural ingredients. You can enjoy them on a sandwich, or simply straight from the jar.
Moulins de la Brague Tapenade – An all natural tapenade made with 90% black olives, virgin olive oil, salt, capers, and anchovies. This is best enjoyed on toasts, served with fish, or with raw vegetables. I was going to have my olive lovin’ kiddos try this, but then I read the ingredients and saw anchovies. Ah well. I’m sure I’ll find it a good home. 😉
L’Epicurien Bruschetta Eggplant and Red Pepper – According to the info card, this spread is made from the best produce grown under the Mediterranean sun. It includes fried eggplant, red peppers, apples, onions, tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, and other all natural ingredients. Try it on toast, add it to hummus, or eat it straight out of the jar.
Trois Petits Cochons Petits Toasts – A package of crunchy petits toasts was included to enjoy with both the tapenade and the bruschetta. They have a mild flavor and contain no artificial colors or preservatives.
Also included in the box was a pretty postcard featuring a photo of the Eiffel Tower with a foreground of blooming red flowers.
The Bon Appetit Snack Box is a nice introduction to traditional French cuisine. I’m happy with the products included, though I would have liked to have seen one or two more in there, given the monthly cost of the subscription. Aside from that, it was a nice selection of authentic French appetizers. 🙂 — Remember, you can save $5 on any plan with coupon code “2LITTLEROSEBUDS5“!
