Let’s see what’s in my August 2017 BookCase.Club box!
Everything was shipped in a white and blue box with the BookCase.Club logo on top.
A peek inside! — As always, I chose the “Read to Me” Case which includes 4 children’s books.
Me First by Max Kornell ($17.04, Amazon)
These adorable little donkey siblings — Hal and Martha — remind me so much of one of my girls’ favorite cartoons when they were toddlers — “Trotro“! I kinda miss seeing that lil’ dude, so it was neat that these floppy haired donkeys looked so much like him. The story is a classic tale about sibling rivalry and how Hal & Martha always had to be the one who was first at everything. One day, they decide to explore a new way home and were ultimately happy to have one another by their sides.
I Didn’t Know That Sharks Keep Losing Their Teeth ($7.99, Amazon)
I knew this book looked a little familiar. — I was actually sent the same one (slightly different cover art) back in February. I didn’t go back and see if all of the pages are the same, so there could be some variations in this edition. Either way, it’s a colorful, beautifully illustrated book loaded with fun facts about sharks.
Miss Brooks’ Story Nook by Barbara Bottner ($11.29, Amazon)
This fun story is about a little girl named Missy who goes to school early to hear books read aloud by the school librarian, Miss Brooks. Unfortunately, a bully named Billy makes it difficult for her to get to the “story nook” on time. One day, when the power goes out at school, Miss Brooks has the children make up their own stories — allowing Missy to get even with the bully in her own way.
The Tomb Robber and King Tut by Sarah Gauch ($16.76, Amazon)
A tale about a young boy named Hassan, who wants to help search for King Tut’s tomb. His father doesn’t want him to participate, as their family were once tomb raiders and they’re still not fully trusted. Hassan goes anyway, and makes a very interesting discovery.
August’s BookCase.Club selections were kind of a mixed bag for us. We enjoyed “Me First” and “Miss Brooks’ Story Nook”, but were a little disappointed to see a repeat title with the shark book and the Tomb Robber book just didn’t hold their interest. Still, it was a great value as always! — Using Amazon prices, the total value was just over $53! 😀 — Remember, if you’d like to sign up you can save 15% on your first month with coupon code “Rosebuds15“!
