My July Bramble Box is here and it’s flippin’ adorable! The theme this month? — “Ice cream shop”!
If you’re not aware, Bramble Box is a fun subscription box for children aged 4 through 8 years old. Unlike many kid’s boxes which tend to focus on crafts and toys, Bramble Box encourages learning through open-ended pretend play.
Every Bramble Box is focused on a different theme and contains materials for hours & hours of free play fun. Boxes are gender neutral and can include such themes as detective, post office, bakery, and more. The materials are intended to help your child use their imagination, express themselves, improve reading and math skills, learn about the world around them, and overall, have FUN.
Bramble Boxes are available for purchase as single boxes, on a month-to-month basis, and as multi-month subscriptions. The monthly and one-time boxes are $25, while multi-month commitments are as low as $23/month. (Stay tuned for a 30% coupon code at the end of this post!)
Let’s have a look inside July’s Bramble Box!
As soon as I saw the “Ice Cream” sticker on the box, I couldn’t wait to see what was inside.
A sheet listing all of the included materials and activities was pasted to the inside lid of the box. The box itself even turns into a little ice cream stand!
Ice Cream Scoops, Dishes, and Spoons – You can’t have an ice cream shop without ice cream! Large pom-poms were the “scoops”, while smaller red ones represented cherries. Two containers with lids and a pair of wooden spoons were also included.
Ice Cream Cones – Not a fan of ice cream in a dish? No problem! 3 cardboard sugar cones were also provided. Yum!
Sprinkles – The perfect finishing touch to any dessert — sprinkles! A bottle of tiny colorful pom-poms was included for your child to shake over the ice cream and pretend to add them. You can also open it up after shaking so that the static allows the pom-poms to actually stick to the ice cream, but I went with the pretend option. I also may have told my girls that the top doesn’t come off. 😉
Shaking sprinkles! I’m sure they’ll figure out how to open the jar eventually, but for now I’m enjoying the (no mess) pretend option.
Menu & Flavor Board – A menu with pictures of each colored ice cream scoop allowed your child to name their own flavors. The other side had spots for them to write in the prices for each menu item.
Money – Ice cream isn’t free, ya know! To run a proper ice cream stand, you’ll need some cash. This money was printed on sturdy cardstock to withstand plenty of use.
“Should I Share My Ice Cream?” by Mo Williams – Aw, this book is so sweet. It’s about an elephant who isn’t sure if he wants to share his ice cream with his friend piggy. What does he do? Pssh… I won’t spoil the surprise. 😉
I read the book aloud first, then they decided to “read” it again themselves. They liked pointing out each little ice cream cone.
Paper Hats – Two paper hats were included to decorate and wear while serving the ice cream.
I had the girls use crayons to decorate them while I put the ice cream stand together.
Ice Cream Shop Sticker Book – We’ve gotten quite a few of these sticker books in various boxes and this is by far my favorite one. So many adorable treat stickers! — 604 to be exact. 😀
Ice Cream Stand – The box-turned-ice cream stand turned out a LOT better than I expected. The instructions were cut off on the info sheet, so I wasn’t 100% sure how to assemble it, but I managed to make it work. The girls had fun decorating it with the stickers and I took the liberty of naming all the flavors. Cuuuute!
July’s Bramble Box was such a treat (har-har) for my kiddos. They loved putting the ice cream scoops into the cones and dishes, then topping them off with lots of sprinkles. The managed to get the “cherries” stuck in the bottoms of the cones more than I would have liked (they really were hard to get out!), but overall it was a total hit.
If you’d like to sign up, Bramble Box is currently offering new customers 30% off their first box or a single play box from their shop! Just use coupon code “summer30” at checkout.
