I haven’t reviewed a Better Half Box since their debut in May, so I was excited when July’s box appeared on my porch today. (Yay surprises!)
If you’re not aware, Better Half Box is a newer subscription box that offers two different themes per month — one for women and another for men. Each box will contain 6 to 8 full sized products. They could be anything from home goods, to beauty, fashion, and more. Special edition boxes for birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays will also be available for purchase in their online shop.
Subscriptions are $39.99/month with free shipping. Multi-month commitments are also available at a discounted rate.
Let’s see what’s in the July 2015 Better Half Box (Women’s Edition)!
July’s box was themed “Country Chic”.
The full-color info sheet listed all of the products I’d find inside, as well as photos and brief descriptions of each one.
Ruby Blanc Ice Cream Bowl – Aw, I love this! A ceramic bowl painted with a hot fudge & sprinkles design. At first I thought it was just a decorative piece to hold jewelry and other odds n’ ends, but it’s actually described as the perfect bowl for enjoying a cool treat. I think I’ll still use it as a fun trinket/jewelry dish… My ideal serving of ice cream is just way too large for this lil’ thing. 😉
Janis & Melanie Key Lime Cookies – I think I’ve gotten these once before in a Love With Food box. I’m a big fan of anything “key lime” flavored, so I bet these taste amazing. Sadly, they contain dairy, so I’ll never know. Aw.
Floral Headband – When I first pulled this out of the box, I was like “meh”. Not really my style… BUT I decided to try it on anyway and I actually really like it! It’s totally not something I would think of buying on my own, but once I put it on I realized that I need to step up my hair accessory game. Oh, and bonus points for the dark elastic that blends well into the back of my hair. (And the comfort… SO much better than a regular headband that digs into the backs of your ears. Ouch!)
Metal Filigree Earrings – Okay, now these I won’t be using… I haven’t worn earrings in yeeears. That said, they’re kinda cute. I like the pretty filigree design, though the gold hooks don’t really do it for me. Too clashy.
Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color in “Kinetic Copper” – This was another item that kinda grew on me. I didn’t initially like the color, but then I realized that it would be perfect for autumn. Then I noticed that you can actually make patterns in the polish using the magnetic cap. I guess the polish itself is magnetic, so right after you apply it to your nails, you move the magnetic cap below your cuticle and it makes a ripple-like pattern. Neat!
Tassel Handbag – While certainly “country chic”, tassels just aren’t for me. I’m sure it would look cute paired with jeans and cowboy boots, but again, that’s just not my style. Big ol’ flowers on my head, sure…. Fringed bags, not so much. 😉
I really enjoyed July’s Better Half Box. Some of the items proved to really push me out of my comfort zone, which doesn’t happen too often. My favorite items were the ice cream bowl, floral headband, and polish. I wasn’t able to do a cost breakdown, so I’m not sure what the total retail value of everything is, but the curation was great and I discovered some really cute products I wouldn’t normally buy on my own. So overall, I’m happy.Browse more Lifestyle Boxes in my Subscription Box Directory
July 2015 Better Half Box
Cute theme, cute items. I could have done without the bag, but it totally fits the “country chic” vibe, so it’s alright. The headband has me excited to seek out more similar style bands and I love the little ice cream bowl.
