Citrus Lane “Bathtime” Mystery Box Review

Citrus Lane recently offered another special “Mystery Box” for a one-time cost of $29. This time, there were four different box “themes” to choose from: Art, Music, Bath, and Mealtime. Just like past mystery boxes, one item was revealed for each theme — sort of like a teaser — and the rest was to remain a mystery until opened.

For those who may not be aware, Citrus Lane is a monthly subscription for babies/kids aged newborn-5. It’s $29/month (cheaper with longer subs) and includes a nice assortment of toys, books, snacks, toiletries, etc. Sometimes they even include a gift for mom.

This is the third round of mystery boxes that Citrus Lane has offered over the last month or so. The first box was for babies 0-12 months… The second was for 12-24 months… This third one was the first with actual themes instead of age groups.

I decided to go with the “bath” box, since bathtime stuff is always fun (and useful) to get! Alright, let’s chiggity check it out!

Upon opening the box, you could see that it was packed FULL of goodies under the tissue paper. Woo!

Boon Odd Duck – This is the one item that was revealed before purchasing the box. I’ve seen these for a while now (and even bought one as a gift), but this is the first one we’ve owned. My girls LOVE duckies, so this is a nice addition to our bath toy pile collection. Boon ducks are great because they don’t have any holes to hold moisture. No moisture = no mold. They’re also PVC/BPA/Phthalate free! 🙂 (Amazon Price: $6.99)

i Play Organic Cotton Hooded Towel – I was excited to see a hooded towel in the box! And an organic one at that! Nice! We go through towels like crazy — double the kids, double the towels at bathtime — so I’m always happy to get more. I also love that it’s made with organic cotton. Definitely one of the more (only?) high-quality towels we have now. Yay. (Amazon Price: $14.99)

Satsuma Designs Organic Flannel Washcloths/Wipes – These are SO soft! They’re made with bamboo viscose which is extra gentle on baby’s skin. I have a few of these from another brand and I love ’em. 3 were included in the box. (Amazon Price: $9.60 for 3)

“I’ll See You in the Morning” Board Book – Obviously, this isn’t for bathtime, but to read to your little one(s) post-bath. The girls are total bookworms and we can never have enough of ’em. This is a sweet little book to ease your kiddo into sleepy time. Also, I’m diggin’ how the page spread in the photo above matches my nails. 😉 (Amazon Price: $6.29)

Boon “Dive” Bath Tub Appliques – This is the only “repeat” item that I already had from a previous box. I knew that getting some repeats was a possibility with a mystery box, so no biggie. These are fun ocean-themed foam appliques that stick to the side of your tub. I was a little worried that they wouldn’t stick to ours, cos we have an old clawfoot one, but they totally do! (Amazon Price: $6.48)

Rich Frog Sponges – Cat & Pig – These are so cute! And I love that they included two so I won’t have to worry about the girls fighting over one cos they’ll each have their own. (Eh… Who am I kidding? They’ll both fight over the pig.) These are made with soft terrycloth, perfect for scrubbin’ the cooties away. (Amazon Price: $9.97 for one, so $20 for 2… Which seems like a lot, so I’ll go with $10 for both)

California Baby Shampoo/Bodywash & Conditioner – These are 2-ounce travel sized bottles of shampoo/bodywash and hair conditioner. Both of them are made with a “calming” formula containing an aromatherapy blend that includes French lavender. They’re free of gluten, soy, dairy and many common allergens. We have a TON of shampoo, but it doesn’t hurt to get more. The conditioner I’ll probably use for myself. 😉 (Amazon Price: I’m estimating $5.00 for both)

The total amount of all the items using Amazon prices comes to $59.35, which is right around the $60 value that was promised (I’m sure retail would be more).

I’m definitely happy with my Mystery Box! We’ll use everything we received and the duplicate item will either get traded or gifted. That said, I almost hope they don’t offer any more for a while though… Mystery boxes are fun and all… but the bills? Not so much. 😉
