It’s been a sloooow mail week here, thanks to the record-breaking winter storm that hit the Buffalo area. I haven’t gotten one subscription box all week (the horror!!). Thankfully, my mom got her Citrus Lane box and brought it over when she visited the girls yesterday. Mine was supposed to be here on Wednesday, but no sign of it yet… #bloggerproblems
If you haven’t heard, Citrus Lane is a monthly subscription for babies/kids aged newborn-5. It’s $29/month (less with longer term subscriptions) and includes a nice assortment of toys, books, snacks, toiletries, etc. Sometimes they even include a gift for mom. It’s by far one of my favorite boxes to open each month.
November’s box included products for “encouraging creative play and cognitive development”. This box was geared towards a 3-year old girl.
Bring on the goodies!
Everything arrived in their trademark brown and yellow box.
I can never manage to get a good photo of their info card, but you get the gist.
Faber-Castell Watercolor Crayons ($12.10) – These are so cool! At first I thought they were just regular ol’ crayons, but nooo — they’re watercolor crayons! I didn’t even know such a thing existed. Your kiddo just draws a picture like they normally would, then uses a brush to paint over it with a bit of water. This spreads out the colors, giving it a neat watercolor effect. Set includes 15 crayons as well as a free brush. Fun!
Faber-Castell Watercolor Pad (~$7.00) – I couldn’t find this exact size on Amazon, so I’m guessing on the price (similar sized pads sold for $7). This particular pad has 10 sheets that measure 6″ x 9″. The heavyweight paper is specially designed for use with watercolors and has a nice textured feel.
The Animal Boogie Puzzle from Barefoot Books ($11.69) – This colorful jigsaw puzzle from Barefoot Books has 36 large, sturdy pieces. The completed project is 16″ x 16″ and features a jungle scene full of animals. Boogie-ing animals. I like that it has a reusable box and easy carry handle for taking it along to grandma’s house.
Juice Beauty Green Apple Age Defy Hand Cream ($12.00) – I’ve gotten this in a past Citrus Lane box, but I like it so I don’t mind getting it a second time. Even so, when my mom showed interest, I said she could keep it (she did pay for this box after all). While I love the formula (and scent), I just got that nice shea butter hand cream from this month’s Popsugar Must Have box, so I’m set with hand softening for the month. 😉
The total value of all the items in November’s box (using Amazon prices) is almost $43.00. Nice! While I wasn’t too excited when I first saw the crayons, once I found out they were watercolors they won me over. The paper is high quality too, so I think I’ll save that for the girl’s “special” projects down the road.
