Let’s see what’s in the August 2019 Young Adult Unplugged Book Box!
Everything was shipped in a black box with the Unplugged Book Box logo on top.
A peek inside!
An info card listed all of the item’s in August’s Off the Grid “Summer Solstice” box, along with brief descriptions and dates/instructions for their monthly Instagram photo contest.
Remember Me by Chelsea Bobulski
August’s featured book was hand-wrapped in a black paper bag and decorated with a single star-shaped sticker. Tucked inside was a bookplate signed by the author.
In Chelsea Bobulski’s Remember Me, an eerie and suspenseful YA novel, a teen girl discovers what connects her to the hotel she calls home as horrifying visions lead her to the truth.
Nell Martin is moving again, this time to the Winslow Grand Hotel, built in 1878. As Nell is settling in, strange things begin to happen. Doors lock of their own accord, writing appears on bathroom walls―and most horrifying of all―visions of a dead boy permeate her waking life. Thinking it was her mind playing tricks on her, she soon finds the past and the present colliding as she learns horrific details of a murder that happened at the hotel in 1907 involving a girl named Lea.
Nell and a mysterious bellboy must relive that day in hopes of finally breaking a curse that imprisons them both. And Nell discovers what truly links her to the history of the Winslow Grand Hotel.
Book Nook Candles “Hypatia” Soy Wax Candle
Candles two months in a row? I am NOT complaining! 😉 This shimmery offering from Book Nook Candles was exclusively made for Unplugged Book Box. It was inspired by the Hypatia, a science rescue vessel from the Illuminae Files by Jay Kristoff & Amie Kaufman and features a black soy wax base with sparkly silver glitter throughout. It’s scented with citrus & amberwood (though I really can’t make out any notes of citrus myself) and has a natural wood wick.
Neverworld Wake Water Bottle
This exclusive water bottle was inspired by Beatrice Hartley of Neverworld Wake by Marisha Pessl. The greenish (turquoise?) bottle is printed with the quote “You are more magical than you know” and holds up to 24 ounces of your favorite beverage.
Skyward Flight Bath Bomb by iBeauty Gifts
Exclusively designed by iBeauty Gifts, this pretty purple bath bomb is reminiscent of the night’s sky and was created as an homage to the character Spensa of Brandon Sanderson’s Skyward. I’m not sure of the scent, but it’s infused with nourishing sunflower & avocado oils.
Edward’s Bite Vampire Spray
Mosquito bites happen… But now you can soothe those itchy bumps with the help of “Edward’s Bite Soothing Spray for Vampire Bites”. This Twilight-inspired anti-itch spray was created by Hued Shoppe & Botanica and contains a blend of organic witch hazel, organic aloe vera, alcohol, Himalayan Sea salt, menthol crystals, and emulsifier.
Another Unplugged exclusive, this pin is number three (and the final piece!) in their Summer Solstice collectible series inspired by Sarah’s favorite fandoms. It features an image of Sam & Dean’s classic Chevy Impala from the hit TV series, Supernatural.
Also included were an “Off the Grid” Spotify playlist with a list of reasons to unplug from work & technology on the flip-side.
Yet another fun selection of literary-inspired goodies from Unplugged Book Box! I was excited to see another candle this month and all of the items were ideal for an end-of-summer box. 😀 — Remember, if you’re interested in subscribing you can save 10% on your first month with coupon code “GETUNPLUGGED“!
