Yay! Citrus Lane time! I had seen a few spoilers for September’s box, but wasn’t totally sure what we’d be getting. I also saw that anyone who got last month’s recalled fish game would be getting a replacement item in this month’s box. Woo!
If you haven’t heard, Citrus Lane is a monthly subscription for babies/kids aged newborn-5. It’s $29/month (less with longer term subscriptions) and includes a nice assortment of toys, books, snacks, toiletries, etc. Sometimes they even include a gift for mom. It’s by far one of my favorite boxes to open each month.
My girls are 3 years old, so this box is geared towards that age.
Let’s see what’s inside our September 2015 Citrus Lane box!
September’s box featured a selection of items with a back-to-school theme. As always, the info card listed everything inside and included a few discount codes on additional items.
Hohner Hand Drum & Mallet ($12.62) – Warning: This is LOUD. Like, annoyingly so. That said, my girls love it and have been banging away on it since we opened the box. I was hoping it would be a little quieter if you hit it with your hand instead of the stick, but nope… Still loud. Ah well, the girls are happy anyway.
Sassafras Cookie Baking Kit ($13.53) – Subscribers in this age group had a choice of this kit or a set of Hape Pets. Since we already have the complete set of pets, I went for the baking kit (though I was tempted to get more pets cos they’re just that damn cute!). This is a nice kit set for little bakers that includes measuring cups & spoons, cookie cutters, a spatula, a rolling pin, and even a couple recipes. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find out if these are BPA-free, which would be nice to know.
Thesaurus Rex from Barefoot Books ($6.99) – A cute dinosaur-themed book that introduces kids to alliteration, repetition, and rhyme. We’re big fans of books of all kinds and this one is really cute.
Plum Organics Mashups (~$3) – Can’t go wrong with fruit & veggie pouches. My kiddos devour these things and they’re great (healthy!) on-the-go snacks. Organic too!
Schoola Donation Bag & Coupon Code – I love Schoola! I’ve been using their site for quite a while now. They accept donated clothing (kid’s and women’s) and then sell them on the site at low prices. A portion of each sale goes towards a school of the donator’s choosing. If you sign up with my link, you’ll receive a FREE $15 credit. Plus, shipping is free right now, so you can essentially get $15 in clothes shipped to your door at no cost to you!
North American Bear Co. Tutu Purse ($11.99) – This is the replacement item we received for the recalled fish game. I’m actually really happy with it! My girls love anything pink (tutus are a big plus too), so this was a great pick for us.
Aside from the loudness of the drum (I mean, it IS a drum, so I can’t be mad), I’m really pleased with September’s Citrus Lane box. We’ll be able to use everything we were sent and the replacement item is a perfect choice. The value of the box without the replacement item comes to just over $36 using Amazon Prices. Not crazy high, but not bad at all.
